Broforce ripped off a neogaf joke known as "Dudebro". This neogaf joke became a big joke on the community and predates Broforce by 4-5 years.
Neogaf thread on Dudebro. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=381946 The official title of it is "Dudebro: My Shit is Fucked Up So I Got to Shoot/Slice You II: It's Straight-Up Dawg Time" Members of the neogaf community are working on an indie game based on the joke, which became a full blown thing over time. Of course, people who know Broforce who don't know about Dudebro will think Dudebro is the one copying the other, not vice versa.

I don't see why people get so upset about Samus in the new Smash Bros. People have to keep in mind 1) This is basically the only real sex icon Nintendo has. They are going to try and make her real sexy, and furthermore 2) It is the video game industry. What do you expect? This industry is so sexist against women.

Pretty sure Samus is considered more of an icon for feminism in gaming, hence the uproar. Part of the contributing factors to that is her being one of if not the first strong and competent human female protagonists in the medium.

@GDB and @SilverSyko - Zelda and Peach are not really 'sex icons' like Zero Suit Samus is. Zero Suit Samus is the only true sex icon I can think of that is a Nintendo character. However, SilverSyko made a very good point. Samus became one of the very first strong female characters in the history of gaming, and has been a video game icon for decades that is pro-feminism, like Silver said.

Tbh, she became a pseudo-sex symbol the instant she dropped down the the zero suit, (prior to that did we even know she was even female?). While she's not overtly marketed as one and is usually held up as "strong female" role model (Other-M notwithstanding), the suits design and highlights do tend to pander towards the male audience (but an argument could be made that it's aimed towards empowering girls to be more confident, I guess, maybe).
