Hmmm, I feel like if she were to live that the humans would get too much answer/too much power with having two titans so I believe the author will have her die here. Pretty much all the chapters in this series have ended on cliffhangers if I recall so that shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

lol at Christa:
"YMIR! BE TRUE TO YOURSELF! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT GETS US ALL KILLED! ATTA GIRL, BREAK DOWN THIS TOWER THAT SERVES AS OUR LAST LINE OF DEFENSE!" I mean damn, girl. Anyways, interesting to see that Ymir really WAS willing to sacrifice herself. If anything, chapter 18.5 implied that she was a titan "leader" like Annie and the gorilla titan. As for whether or not she'll bite it, I was wondering if she would crystallize herself like Annie did (which may be some method of suspended animation), but I dunno. At any rate, at least it's good to see the scouting legion return! Also, here's something really amusing: from volume 9's omake pages: Spoiler:

though i have to say they need ymir on their side, even with her, the good guys are still in an disadvantage... the armor titan, annie (that b*tch is going to get away), the 60 meter, BIG FOOT, and whoever else that can transform to titan form. Eren has to become a super titan to help even the odds

I am still stuck in between. I like her, but as a friend and regarding Ymir, your theory is very sounded. She might of been a leader of a small group, not all the titans know her. Ymir form wasn't powerful, but it was sure agile.

If Ymir dies then the story is pretty much going nowhere. The characters are back where they started 6 months ago, with barely any new info on what the hell is going on, except they've suffered severe losses and there are more dangerous titans emerging. The plot has been basically stuck in a bunch of fetch quests hoping for some new development on the mysteries for like a year now. It's starting to look like the author doesn't know where to take the story.

ymir seems to be a different breed of titan. she is smaller than Eren or Annie. However she is able to posses agility, speed, and able to crawl into buildings. Probably it was purposely done this way for titans her size to go after humans inside buildings.
Seems she is still though more intelligent than Annie or Eren since she is able to talk like Big Foot.

Are you sure that Ymir is the girl who will give her approval to share titans secrets? I've a felling it's Christa. She is an illegitimate child of very important family. Also I'm more interested how those poor villagers suddenly turned into titans. Most probably Big Foot is related to this, but how?

Okay, the translation's out, so now I can post about said huge twist!
Actually..... I'm not too surprised about the reveal, myself. In fact, I've seen the same theory about those guys' true identity floating around for as long as Annie's. Though I gotta admit, I find it kinda funny that the reveal was done in such an.... anti-climactic manner ("Hey Eren, come over for a sec, will ya? Yeah, y'see, me and my buddy here are those titans who destroyed the walls and nearly got mankind wiped out a few years back. Got that? Cool, now come with us." ). It's also strange, though: Ryner and Bertholdt clearly indicated that they have a grudge against titans, as well (remember, just a couple chapters back we saw how shocked they were when they found out that Ymir was the one who attacked their home village when they were younger), so why would they want to destroy humanity? I mean, they even seemed to be genuinely getting along with Eren and co. during their rookie training days! Methinks there's a much deeper, complex story behind those two (and Annie) than initially expected..... |

Though I can't blame you for being confused, at that time the Armored Titan was nowhere as thick, muscular and "armored" as it is now. Let's suppose it's because the guy grew up since then.

Damn! I didn't see it coming. The hints are there but I hardly noticed it. I thought it was already very strange that the female titan killed Eren's squad like flies but spared Eren's friends from his old squad. The one who figured it all out months ago and posted it online is too great! Could he be the author himself?
But the reveal is very anti-climatic. It's so random. What the hell were Reiner and Berthold thinking? My theory is that all humans can become titans. But only a few ones can remain sane and not eating humans (they don't even digest humans, never touch other animals, like they're some kind of biological weapons) and the ones who know the secret don't want to reveal it to everyone because it's too much too bear. Eren's dad might possibly work on how to make everyone capable of controlling their titan transformation with their sanity intact. ^^ That's what I guess. |

They may have been rattled because 1) they almost died to normal titans and would have had to reveal themselves and 2) they might have been surprised by Ymir's actions. It's not known if Ymir was ever on their side or if she defected for Historia. Either way their mission to secure Eren seemed to be getting messier by the hour so they freaked and jumped the shark.

Though Ymir, and all the other titan (minus Eren) can probably share a lot. |

for people that said the reveal is anti-climatic I have the direct opposite view.
The way they told Eren is so natural and so matter-of-fact that it's a lot more shocking than any other grand reveal. I had to take a double take to make sure that it was a troll scanlation. Btw, Reiner mentioned earlier that the 2nd way to kill titans is to jam a sword up their asses. It was comedic back then, but I will love the manga so much if they turned out to be his destiny. XD
