Supreme Court ruling on "faithless electors" from this July:

Quote:
The U.S. Supreme Court has unanimously upheld laws across the country that remove or punish rogue Electoral College delegates who refuse to cast their votes for the presidential candidate they were pledged to support.

If I'm reading this right, all it says is that laws to remove faithless electors are constitutional. And that it's possible that states can decide to do that even without a law.

It doesn't say that faithless votes are automatically invalid, especially if the governor and/or state legislature agree with it.

What are the chances of Trump being dragged out of the White House by security officials in January?

Meanwhile Mike Pompeo said there will be a 'smooth transition to a second Trump administration'.

Considering how many Republican voters in recent surveys express doubts over the election in the aftermath of Trump's loss (70% didn't believe the elections were free and fair, 72% believe there has been ballot manipulation and 64% believe the results are not reliable), McConnell and company are playing with fire by indulging Trump's antics. Sure, short-term it may benefit them with theirs and Trump's base, but in the long-run this will only drive the country further apart and closer to civil war-like state should domestic issues pop up again.

This is not about indulging Trump's fantasies. This is an attempted coup, that will succeed if it isn't stopped. Wake up and smell the coffee.

How would it succeed? They would have to present a case to the court and so far they have literally no evidence of widespread fraud. The total might shift a little after the recount but nowhere near enough to influence the result.

I'm treating this as a sign that military intervention might be a possible reality.
As someone said, there's probably a reason why he fired the Defense secretary and has started to bunker up around the White house.

Though I'm not sure who the branches will be loyal too.

Esper was fired because he wants to continue the forever war, do yourself a favor and don't get caught up in American left wing fantasies.

You are certainly under no obligation to believe Jake Tapper, by all means continue to believe that Trump is plotting some sort of coup despite being the sitting POTUS.

That and he can keep up with his democrats stealing the presidency rant.

“I just went on vacation to have a wonder Christmas with my family. The democrats broke into the White House and now won’t let me back in.”

Thing is. If he's not declared the winner, his term is up on January 20th. Even if no one is declared the winner and he does not concede. He is still out of office on that day if he had not officially won a second term.

No but at least to him it lets him save face with his voting base. His own pride and ego are what is at stake for him.

I knew you would show up when everybody wants to look for voter fraud (in other words, voter suppression again)

As of right now, there is no claim of fraud from any of the officials in all of the states right now. In fact, GOP wants to do a Hard Count in GA (Good luck on that one) because they still try to figure out why they lose there.
