What you are probably looking for is Mkvtoolnix. You probably need MVKExtractGUI2 also, because I'm assuming you aren't comfortable with command-line.
I am not familiar with WMM, but two things I want to say from the top of my head. 1. WMM probably needs the right codec to load the file. 2. MKV files are containers that means the video, audio, and subtitles are all separate; I don't know if WMM is capable of piecing it all together.
