People usually get stuff early all the time. I remember my friend got the last Harry Potter book shipped to him by Amazon a couple days early.

I'm guessing that he got it in the same way that he got everything else :P he found something cool and broke the lock, maybe it originally belonged to one of the antagonists of the novel.
