How do you store your cd-r anime after burning?
I realize that this should have been included in my "what type of cd-r do you use" thread but I didn't think about it until the next day . I found some of the responses in that last thread to be very helpful so maybe this will turn out to be also.
Right now I use these plastic sleaves that hold 3 cd wallets that hold 12 cd's each, with plastic covers that are each a different color made by Pacific Technology. These are extremly helpful because you can write on the spine of each wallet to say what is in it and they were on clearance at Fred Meyer for under $4 per case of 3 wallets. I bought their whole stock but I've almost used them all up and can't find them anymore (not even on the internet). So now I'm looking for another CHEAP solution. Every cd wallet or case I find on the internet ends up costing more per 1 cd they hold than I pay for the cd itself. I thought about storing them on the spindles but that seems very unorganized, and I heard it can shorten the life of the cd. Has anyone found a cheap and effective method of organizing your cd-r anime collection?

1. put them in harddrive XD
2. burn them in dvdr 3. buy a 256-512 cdr booklet, tag each sections with names like 'action' 'comedy'. Put cdrs in its belong section. Don't put them in those 50discs spindle. If you move the discs often you will risk the chance of tearing off the surface of the cdrs(especially the cheap one). Treat them properly, and they will last you a lifetime (or so they claim).

Putting CD-Rs in contact with flexible plastic is risky, it can adhere to the CD, or so I've heard.
In principle the best solution seems to be jewel cases, they're not overly expensive (200 doubles, that's 400 disks-worth for just over £20), but they are likely to take up a lot of space, and you need a pretty big box to put them in to keep them in the dark. I'm using a combination of methods at the moment, (including a spindle for "archive storage", ie. those disks I don't expect to touch again for some time), but once I've got a more permanent residence with a bit of space I'm planning to change to a more permanent solution. Are there any large, organised, case-like solutions that don't involve putting the surface of the CD in contact with flexible plastic or another dangerous material? |

Well, I guess it can adhere, if it's left in the sun or something. Putting it in plastic covers always worked for me however.
But I guess I shouldn't be giving advice on CD-R storage, since I generally just leave them stacked on each other in the shelf, without any protection. And I can say none of them has been damaged so far. I only keep my DVD+Rs under extra protection. I'm kind of interested in this issue as well. I could use some good solution to storage that is cheap as well. |

i spent $20-(canadian) on a 92-CD book-type-thing, and so far i have to complete series and 30 dvds and i keep the in alphabetically order, it only takes 5 minutes when adding something new, although its kind of tedious
its a nice colour andyou could probably fit 184 cds in it |

Right now only a small portion of my CDRs are in slim jewel cases and stored on my CD tower(precious stuff like Tsukihime & Peace Maker Kurogane), the rest are mixed in several locations. i had series over 50 eps in the spindles they came with (i.e. Shaman King, Hunter X Hunter), and they're rarely touched. To make it short.....basically I use a class system, so I can allocate the minimal funds I have for storage problems, right now, about 50% of my anime are stored in Logic sleeves that hold 2 discs and stored in shoe boxes by genre/length in alphabetical order. The logic sleeves are pretty cheap, you can get 50 for under $4 which hold 100 CDs. Ah! I also had a lot of fun printing cover images on my shoeboxes for labeling purposes.
And definitely, when I can settle down in one place, I'll try to look for better storage, although I think I'm really content with what I have for now. |

That sucks, ive never heard of J&R, but we have a staples around here. I went over to Bellevue today where there are about 5 independant computer shops and none of them had any good cd-r brands or means of storing them, and the little they did have were way over priced.

Wow, finfangfoom's actually a lot closer than I thought, then probably the last resort is ebay, except you'll be getting used stuff, but the compromise in the price can save you some money for shipping. by the way, J&R have their own website, and they're famous for selling the cheapest electronics here.
the J&R site...hope it helps.. http://www.jandr.com/JRSectionView.p...ch&lastSearch= the memorex sleeves are cheap now...like $3.99 for 50....so, if you're buying, probably get those. EDIT: I just checked something, if you don't need your orders by the 24th...the delivery's completely free. FREE, man. |

I buy 50 Pack jewel cases from Staples, jewel ccases are jewel cases, unlike cd-r's.I label my discs with a marker designed for cd-r labeling, then put them in the case. After that I store them in on my shelf in my closest. Each stack is an anime, and it is completly dark were the likes of light will hardly touch them.
