Been licenced for years, to the point where you can get it on VHS subtitled or R1 dvd from Bandai. Its also available in just about every english speaking country that sells anime

Watch the series first, then the movie, cuz the movie sucks in comparison to the series. The Escaflowne movie is completely different than the show. It's a reimagining of it, basically.

Just re-watch the series over the weekend.

What a great series, reminded why i like anime in the first place. One of the best mix of shoujo and mecha ever. Too bad about the dvd transfer, hope they make a HD ver. I will defintely buy it again.

Most definitely don't miss Escaflowne. The soundtrack is to me one of the best ever. Yoko Kanno used orchestra in romanesque style to great effect.

WOW. Finally founded the thread about Vision of Escaflowne. After hearing for a while the mp3 I have of this series, I have the urge to rewatch the whole series again. I have the DVDS for years. I bought them the moment they were release. AWESOME series. There's no series that can be compare to it. I want to buy the movie. Never did it before, and I regret it now . The first release of the movie had a OST and I think an Escaflowne statue.

The move is nicely animated and has some great action sequences, but it's really not nearly as good as the series itself. I don't think you should regret it too much.

Well, the movie ain't that bad. I liked, not as much as the series, but I really liked it. I regret it no buying it before, because of the figures it had . T_T. They should make a remake of this series. If I remember correctly, in the last DVD the extra section; it had an interview with the creators. In the interview, they said that they had an ending and they had to change it at last moment. Has that ending ever been release thru the internet?

It's been licensed by Bandai for quite some time, there is a cheap version under the Anime Legends brand floating about somewhere (most likely Best Buy, F.Y.E., Suncoast, etc). Recently got it myself, good stuff.

Yeah I bought the anime legends boxset after seeing it on cable. I dont believe it costs too much, so I dont think it would exactly break the bank.

It's well known enough you might be able to find it to rent. Either way, definetly one to put on the to watch list - one of the best stories ever!
