I need to go and order them again. I did not know of the author's style change.

Overall artistic progressions in manga are pleasant as mangaka refine their formulas and get a better idea on what their characters stand for. Negima is a good example of that...nearly all 31 girls are slowly given their own expressions.

I remember back then Yoshimizu drew the faces very flat and all the faces follow a set formula. I only wish he/she could draw the old early-vol.1 style again. Konata before her sleepy otaku eyes was actually pretty cool-looking.

I'm not sure what he/she could possibly do with drawing them realistically though. It'd require a storyline or it'd go stale really fast.

Yes, early Konata was very cool, but none can match the utter moe-ness of the sleepy eyes.

(Oh, and Kagami Yoshimizu's a guy, by the way)

I thought that Kagami was his pen name, or some name he was really fond of.

I think Japan generally has a lot of unisex names. Some of those include: Hiro, Akira, Jun, Hiromi, Hikaru, Toshi, Yoshi, Kohaku, Nori, Madoka, Minori,

I think most names without the "-ko" suffix is liable to be unisex, since Asian names tend to draw connections to things in nature (lots of animals, trees, and seasons), key events (lots of babies in China called "Olympic" right about now), and adjectives. We probably won't see a man with a girly adjective like "Ai = love" in his name, but "winter" and "field" can happen to everyone.

If you only know my real name and nothing else it's fully possible (though not too likely) to think I'm a girl.

Western names seem to tend towards reflecting historical and biblical examples so they usually have a sex pegged onto each depending on who that was.

Has there been any news at all since the manga has been licensed? Any speculative dates or anything?

Wow, I don't know how reliable Amazon is for dates on stuff like this, but that'd be fantastic! Can't wait

Yeah, FINALLY. Let's hope it's not suddenly discontinued like so many other things.

Since the publisher is Bandai Entertainment ... I'd say its going to be well-supported (as long as people buy it of course).

I see the second volume is listed for August so we're getting the standard '3 month interval' release to maximize sales.

... und now ve danse.

Volume 6 has officially made Minami a Woobie to me. Someone (i.e. Yutaka), give her a hug!
