Designation: UX-01.
The tri-deck Gamilas carriers from the original series are back, this time with a class and individual designations: Gyperon Multideck Spacecraft Carriers: バルグレイ = Bargrei (Carrier 1), ランベア = Ranbea (Carrier 2), and シュデルグ = Shuldeg (Carrier 3). Additionally, Shultz's command ship also was christened, シュバリエル = Shuvalier, which is close to the rendering of the French シュヴァリエ ル or Chevalier. So, the transliteration should be...? I'll have to think about this one.

Hmmm. Prototype submarine maybe?
And a French named Gamilas ships? Would the translation be left of French? The Japanese noun as read? English? The three carriers are all different even this time around. Aside from the colors (which was from the original), they have different deck designs. Some have angled decks, some don't. Some have straight edge bows, some have jagged edge bows.

Most of the Gamilan names, so far, are mostly derived from German and Nordic roots. But, the key in transliterating is to render it as differently as possible. As far as the carriers are concerned, in the original series, there were inconsistencies in the animation, where the details changed, and here they have been each assigned to these new designs — and then stylized for 2199.

You'll be able to finish the orginal long before Yamato2199 is finished (estimated end in October 2013). Plus the stories appear to be different on some levels.
Seeing the original, while it will give you an idea of where things are going and other plot related items, we cannot be sure Yamato2199 will follow all those plot itmes. Also they have changed some things from the orignal so it will make more sense logically. But the final choice is yours.

A best of radio plays and stuff. Their in a YRA show about every Monday since just before the show started showing last April. They are around 40 minutes long each on http://www.onsen.ag/
I believe some of the older shows can be found in full on NicoVideo.

I haven't seen chapter 3 yet but i got both the 3rd Movie booklet and the Story Digest Clear File and from just watching the pretty pictures i got some conclusions. These are for the purpose of discussion 'till we get to actually see these episodes and all are welcome to throw in your own ideas or, if you're lucky enough to have already watched this, correct them. Just in case, i'll use spoiler tags

Just finished watching all 6 episodes.
It's a bowl of incredible, smothered in awesome sauce, with a cherry of kick-ass on top. I cannot wait for the 4 installment (eps 7+). They have done the original not only justice, but honor on a level that words cannot express.

That is very, very interesting.
Make on wonder a lot about what was going on out there on the borders of the Empires. Spoiler for Yamato 2201?:

It makes sense that Gamilas would be a balancing power against the White Comet Empire and other Empires of the galaxy and surrounding micro-galaxies/clouds. Seeing the Domelus III in action would be nice since in the original it got only a few cameo shots. Can't wait to see these new episodes.
