Just commenting: Everybody who reads stories in the archive seems aware of the novels and read them. Kinda surprising, given that most just watch the anime. I'm suprised no one's said "Who's Tatenashi/Kanzashi" at all.

THe thing is that in IS, much like you said, nobody in the universe (except Chifuyu and for a small fraction Laura in the beginning) is badass, and thus suddenly proping in a badass oc kind of destroys the atmosphere of the academy.

Teenagers are mostly still childish at heart but also are hardening as adults during late teens. However, if you place a child with heavy previous trauma and mature from there, they often become emotionally blunt during their teens (assuming no extra stimuli such as affection/hate is added on)

Ichika has to grow out of the shadow of his sister (while in canon, he is happy in the shadow regardless), Houki and Kanzashi has an inferior complex about her sis. Kanzashi's development was handled while Houki never really grows out of it, only becoming aware because of Tatenashi.

Still, it's very surprising. I at least expected someone to comment "Who the heck is Ku?" when I included her in Chapter 1 re-qrite.

@ Blitz - The problem is that any decent OC will get flack no matter what. This makes OC stories hard.

Well, Oc fics aren't easy to write. that I would agree on, but it's harder to write canon character fics, as they are more prone to flak, especially when it deals with a popular character getting derailed.

Not really. Look at Dokugan Ryu and White Knight. IChika badass beyond belief and practically always wins? They're the most popular fivs on the archive. As long as it's the CC being Marty Stu's, the readers don't care

That's just how it is. Well, it's more like that is how the AUDIENCE wants the MAIN protagonist to be like. And I haven't read those Ichika Badass fics, so I can't really give you a good subjective view on the matter.

The only reason I have to gimp Irish so hard I've made other OC fics where the protag isn't a cripple, drug addict, or dying, and other fandoms are fine with it. If I make Irish not overtly weak, I'd get "Marty Stu!" attacks.

Yea, and it will be until end of March then I FINALLY graduate!!! BYE BYE school!

EDIT: Well the thing is why they are labelling a certain character as a stu, if the character is absent of flaws, overrides the main characters in canon, that is the key of being a stu (Does not always limit to being overly strong or w.e).

That's why I gave up reading on Charlotte's story because an Oc seems to beat Tatenashi easily which put me off A LOT (and another fact is that it's another male oc)

Now, imagine this, if ALL of the main characters are badasses, then inserting a badass character wouldn't be so strange would it?

Which brings me back to previous post. Having a Joshua as a badass is NOT considered as bad or as stu. In fact, I always saw him as a retired badass, and is just waiting behind the scenes as a form of redemption for making Tabane the way she is today.

And the thing is that we clearly separated that in Sacred Twins, there are subplots with Joshua's story paralleling with ISA and how the two becoming slowly intertwined with connection between the two with Chifuyu as the key player, seeing she is part of both plots. (thats how I saw it)
