That's not exactly standard shounen. And the fact that he beat hot guy with strategy rather than laser beams is nice.

The episode was over too fast for me. I crave for more.

Well it is pretty Mx0-ish.

Protagonists whose only power is cancel need to have brain.

Though authors are a bit gender bias.

Girl cancellers like in Negima and Alice Academy are a bit dumb.

Paradoxically girl cancellers' power is valued while guy cancellers like Toma it is generally considered the lowest because they can't use powers.

I think the plot itself is good but plus good animation put it in my watch lists.
I really think this needs a thread of its own here.
Too much mystery and I can't wait for the next episode.

i am not sure if it needs a separate thread, but the show itself is defenitly worth the time watching every weak. I am looking forward to see if the main char gain more ability from Index

Well he can't use esper powers or magic.

Just cancelling whose side effect is erosion of his luck.

Reading the wiki on To Aru Majutsu no Index there is third sort of power which he can also cancel called divine.

When somebody can cancel divine they must have serious bad luck for it to happen.

Um. Wasn't it pretty clear that he landed on an awning? People have fallen pretty ridiculous heights onto awnings and got off fine in real life. Because awnings have a slight bouncing effect compared to let's say: concrete.

Dude, shouldn't you use a spoiler tag? That's like part of a future plotline(that I shouldn't know about, but I do, ALL thanks to serebe >.>), but it was from the Index manga, chap 13 or 14 if I remember from the TAMnI manga thread.

Holy crap...I think this episode was pretty damn awesome.

The fight scene lasted for nearly the entire episode but Time just flew by instead of being a drag (like what I feared).

The direction and story so far has been pretty good. The animation was amazing.

Stiyl was pretty cool up until the point where the started to panic and lost to Touma's punch But for some reason I don't feel that the guy is "evil". He is the type who acts evil but is actually one of the good guys...I hope...

Poor Index, she is suffering so much ;____;
But now we have a normal human, she should be alright.

Then again...Sensei is in a bunny suit

I'm looking forward to this but I still fear that that will only lead to greater disappointment

This is The Anime of the season. Hopefully it gets a two season runtime, can't seem to find how long it will run.

In any case, so far this was crazy live. I'm interested in reading the manga too now. Great plot, great explanations, exciting scenes, and realistic - it makes sense in context of the plot. Also, I love how the misfortune thing plays such a key role in the development of everything. I wonder how that ability is going to play out around magic.

All in all, highly recommended, amazing series so far - it's your generic epic anime of the season.

Taking his name literally (not real name, of course, just like Blue-Hair Pierce), it isn't that far from his power, though.

Exactly how much of his memory did he lose? Enough to cover Index, of course, but surely not so that he doesn't remember Mikoto as well, right?

In any case, if he just acts his usual self, Mikoto isn't going to notice.
