No, she learned about that in episode 9, when Sayaka was already a witch, and that's when she started to seriously consider the real consequences of becoming a magical girl.
Are you certain? I'm PRETTY SURE It was after Sayaka turned into a witch. Either way, I'm sure she'd of made such a wish anyway.

But yea, let's drop it here.

The only person who knew the truth prior to episode 9 was Homura. She tells Kyouko that the Witch is what remains of Sayaka, and that the body is now an empty lifeless shell, as they're escaping the forming labyrinth at the beginning of the episode. When they meet Madoka on the train tracks, Homura tells them both about the fate of Magical Girls. Madoka cries over Sayaka's corpse and goes into shock, and Kyouko goes into denial and tries to keep the body alive in the hopes that they might be able to bring her back.

That's when Kyubey shows up and gives Madoka "the speech", and Kyouko the false hope. We know now from Kazumi that he didn't really lie about the possibility (turns out it is possible), just that it had never been done before (meaning it wasn't a hundred percent successful).

In episode 10 we see this repeated, except from Homura's perspective. She learns that MG's become Witches when Madoka defeats Walpurgis and immediately changes. She tries to warn the others about Kyubey in the next loop but they don't believe her, but they find out with the other version of Octavia, except this time Mami is also around...and she goes completely bonkers and tries to kill everyone. Madoka and Homura survive, go on to face Walpurgis, and Homura is forced to kill Madoka before she transforms. This starts Homura on her path of doing everything alone and not trusting anyone.

This morphed into a singular focus on Madoka, leading to Mami's death, Sayaka's contract and eventual death, etc. By the time Homura realizes what she has done, it's pretty much checkmate. Madoka must contract, or the loop will be forced to start again. Faced with this despair after realizing she could never defeat Walpurgis, her gem starts to change and Madoka shows up, ready to make her wish.

...The third movie hasn't come out yet and isn't even slated until later this year, so there are no prices for that. The first two double feature usually seems to be about $25.

The first two movies were shown as a double feature. They were never shown separately. My ticket cost $20 when I went to see it while it was playing in Houston back in October.

Yes, just not anytime soon. The theatrical run of the 2 movies is scheduled to end in April, so they won't be coming out before then.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

To those who saw the movie, how was it? Were there that many new animations?

The first film felt like it had entirely new animation, while the 2nd one not so much(besides a couple new scenes) as they just edited most of the footage from the blu-ray.

All the magical girl transformations were new animation.

Thank you. I guess I'll just buy BD when it comes out.

How much time passed between Japanese release of the first 2 movies, and American release of them?

They were released within a week's span. October 6 vs October 13 here (I think)

Well the first 2 movies were released a week apart in Japan. US had them shown back to back 2 weeks later after the 2nd film's release in Japan.

Either that, or they accidentally leaked the info out too soon.
