Avenger is one of my favorite end-of-the-world anime, although the ending is a twist. It's really, really deep so it requires you to view the entire series two or three times to actually figure everything out, but when you do, you can feel really proud of yourself and happy that you've found an amazing series. The plot moves slowly around 3-6, though, and there isn't much cool plot stuff as there is in the very beginning and 7-13, but it's worth it. Most people ditch the series because they say it's too slow (okay, fine) or that it makes no sense (WRONG!!!), but I suggest you check it out.

/end of rant

And another *excellent* end-of-world anime is Wolf's Rain. Watch that at all costs

How about:

- Gilgamesh - one of those series where a disaster strike the world and the world changed.

I would have to add X to that list. X the series is really good. The movie is less so cuz it's so compressed, but it's fun tto watch too.

How about Akira? I consider that one an end of the world anime. If you haven't seen it, it's a must. Especially the dub. Kaneda is voiced by the guy who did Leonardo in the original Ninja Turtles Cartoon. "KAAAAANNEEEDDDAAA!!!!"

Evangelion is a good one, but you already have it.

Blue Gender is kind of within this genre so I recommend that.

I fully agree on Gilgamesh, the animation is a bit weird but the story is very good. I watched 12-26 in one sitting because I couldn't stop watching it.

Other end of the world not mentioned yet is Wolf's Rain : licensed though

I really liked Earth Girl Arjuna, and it is a true end of civilization as we know it kind of anime.

Infinite Ryvius may fall into this genre, not too sure though. If you like hopeless situations then you should check it out. Scrapped Princess also kinda fits in.

I also recommend X the series, or X TV, a great end of the world anime. Also I would fully agree to Beserk although the ending is kinda confusing. Wolf's Rain is also pretty good, though I'm not really sure it would fit in completely.
