I love many Videogames soundtracks . Many, many videogames have amazing soundtracks. TBH, I don't think those videogames would be the same if they didn't have those outstanding OSTs.

My type of videogames musics? Mmmmmh, I think I love the songs which have good melodies that I can memorize easily. I also like the songs that carry emotions.

Well well, rather than talking, here a small list of games with great OSTs. Those are among the best videogames OSTs ever IMHO. I picked up one song I love from each ost (but i love nearly all the songs for those osts). So, the people could listen to it and for some, discover some marvelous songs.

Music is an art, videogames is too ; and when you roll those two into one, it can give something that fabulous.

It took me 1 hour to collect the songs, damn, time flies .

When I do something, I do my best, as always

Well, not really in this case since I think that list can be improved

I moved this so that I could update and add in some samples:

Bioshock (Old timey music FTW)
Chrono Trigger+Chrono Cross (Yasunori Mitsuda was always overshadowed by Uematsu. A shame as I think he's better overall)
Final Fantasy IV (Epic final area theme)
Final Fantasy V (Most laid back soundtrack in the franchise imo)
Final Fantasy VI (Every other song is haunting and disturbing in this one)
Final Fantasy VII (Synthesized PSF Soundtrack)
Final Fantasy VIII (I wish they had swapped the battle themes in this one)
Final Fantasy IX (Best overworld music in the series)
Final Fantasy X (I like to kick back and relax to this)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Militaristic themed OST)
Fire Emblem Seisen No Keifu (This is how you set up a final stage)
Front Mission (Tense music)
Gradius 3 (The peppy music lulls you into the false sense of security that you aren't going to be dying within 5 seconds of it starting up)
Guilty Gear, X, X2 (Hot blooded)
Gundam F91 ~ Formula Wars 122 (More tense music)
Gundam Wing Endless Duel (This ost makes me feel nostalgia for some reason)
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time + Wind Waker (Koji Kondo does it again)
Megaman II, III and VII
Megaman X1, X3 (They don't call him Rockman for nothing)
Persona 3 (What other OST has battle music like this I ask?)
Rockman And Forte (The high watermark of the Megaman franchise)
Sengoku Rance (Alicesoft sees Sammy's Guilty Gear OST and raises them what I like to call psycho metal)
Shadowrun SNES (Always felt it fit the cyberpunk theme quite nicely)
Shinobi 3 (Surf Ninja)
Sonic The Hedgehog 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic CD (I remember when the Sonic franchise had desirable music instead of whatever the heck you call what we get now)
Street Fighter II (The II one always had the best music)
Streets of Rage 2 (Nothing like a disco breakdown when you are punching thugs in the face. All you'd need is a strobe light and you'd be set)
Super Castlevania IV (Just when you thought they couldn't make Simon seem more hot blooded)
Super Mario Galaxy (Koji Kondo does it yet again)
Super Mario RPG (Making the impossible possible as far as the SPC chip went)
Super Metroid (Epic ending....no really)
Super Robot Wars OG (For C.A)
Tales of Phantasia (Best flying theme in any RPG ever as far as I'm concerned)
The Adventures of Batman & Robin (Genesis) (The first track that plays alone is actually 27 minutes long on the OST I have, it just goes on and on and on and on, there's really nothing else quit like it)
TMNT: Turtles In Time (You could always tell a Konami game by the way the music sounded)

And yes just for C.A I added in an SRW track.

Playing the Final Fantasy VII brings back good memories. I really wish I had the music CD for it.

I concur, I had to purchase the Original Soundtrack for Guilty Gear XX. My favourites were "Simple Life" (Bridget), "Writhe in Pain" (Millia Rage), "Meet Again", and Anji Mito's one.

Indeed, although I adored Final Fantasy VIII's soundtrack more. X's was also amazing.

After thinking a looong time, I will give in to my favourites:

Ar Tonelico (Hymnos Concertos Soundtracks are pretty much the only reason why I saved my money )
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
(IMHO, both are best game soundtracks ever)
Trusty Bell
FF Series (Yeah, biased Uematsu fan)
KH Series
Odin Sphere
Persona 3/FES
Persona 4
... And some more that I couldn't think from my head right now *Checks her music folders again*

Ziss Studio's musics are pretty good, to be honest. But since I couldn't find the errr... "Safe" samples from Youtube, I couldn't do anything but to say... Good luck?

@Kaoishin-sama

I would agree that Yasunori Mitsuda is better than Uematsu overall-although his positive point, which is his absolutely wide range of music style, could be his weak point since his style is pretty much undetermined :S

Tales of Legendia had awesome music. Go Shiina really needs to do another game.

Yeah, I'm huge fan of Go Shiina's Legendia OST in general.

Opoona. Composed by Basiscape (Odin Sphere) with Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics) as lead.
The game flopped but the OST is simply gorgeous. Sublime melodies

Saga Frontier II. Nice to see Masashi Hamauzu for the FFXIII OST.

The World Ends With You+Subarashiki Kono Sekai had a wonderful OST too.

Okami. Enough said.

Ah, Subarashiki Kono Sekai, definitely Wonderful music.

Saga Frontier, I always remembered Alkaiser's theme, definitely heroic.

Xenosaga series had great music as well.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack for No More Heroes. Made the boss fights even more enjoyable. Here's a few of my favorites from the OST:

Pleather for Breakfast

We Are Finally Cowboys

Season of the Samurai

Samurai Summer

The Virgin Child Makes Her Wish Without Feeling Anything
I also loved how the second boss was singing this right before the fight.

Super Smash Bros. brawl- the only flaw is that the main theme is played a bit too much, but other that the music is phenomenal and there's a large quantity of songs too (biggest soundtrack I've ever heard). I actually think that some of the remixes are better than the originals.

F Zero X- Can't imagine the game without the music. Very adrenaline pumping rock tracks and appropriate considering you're racing at super sonic speeds on race tracks suspended miles in the air. I have to stress that this game was insanely fun though not easy by any means, partially due to the music.

Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles- the music sounds like a Michael Jackson song sans vocals and he was originally supposed to be the composer until you-know-what happened. Definitely the most memorable Sonic soundtrack for me.

Argh. Don't make me choose.

Alright, let's see.

AIR - It's a tough call, but this probably holds the title of being my favorite soundtrack for a video game. I originally heard this in the anime version, however. Atmospheric, beautiful, haunting, melancholic, and bittersweet. Listening to the soundtrack alone invokes many emotions and a story of its own.
... Favorite tracks: [Tori no Uta] [Natsukage] [Yasou]

Makai Senki Disgaea - What originally exposed me to Tenpei Sato's wonderful work. The original Disgaea achieves a Halloween-type atmosphere with a number of other genres to fill the in-betweens, including cheesy sentai themes and Ghibli Studio-esque vocal melodies.
... Favorite tracks: [Laharl-sama no Sanbika] [Battle of Eight Beat] [Witch Hunting]

Katamari Damacy - A very diverse soundtrack that still manages to be excellent all-around. Quite a lot of styles to be found here, such as sugary J-Pop, samba, soul, and children's choir. Whenever I listen to the soundtrack, I tend to get rather emotional at certain moments. It's pretty powerful.
... Favorite tracks: [Katamari on the Rock ~ Main Theme] [Tsuki to Ouji] [LONELY ROLLING STAR]

Hoshi no Kirby 3 - The best Kirby game (move over, KSS) with the best graphics and music. Handled entirely by Jun Ishikawa, one of my favorite video game composers, the soundtrack achieves an adorable, feel-good atmosphere with the most hummable level themes in a platformer.
... Favorite tracks: [Ripple Field 1] [Hyper Zone] [Credits]

Rockman 8: Metal Heroes - Shusaku Uchiyama diverges from classic Mega Man-style music to achieve a jazz/fusion style for one of Mega Man's best games. In comparison with the NES titles, a lot of the music is pretty laid-back and chill. I'd definitely love to hear another Mega Man game with this style.
... Favorite tracks: [OPENING STAGE] [STAGE SELECT] [TENGUMAN STAGE]
