Why do I watch fairy tail:

1. I don't want to start One Piece from episode 1.
2. Bleach is a waste of time according to everybody I know.
3. I won't go back to watching naruto after all those filler episodes.

with that said, looks like nothing much has changed this season, so I'll definitely watch it

At the moment it looks like the Tataros arc is the last arc in the manga (And even if it isn't, lets just assume the anime would take another break right after its over). So unless the rest of the Tataros arc is longer then eighty chapters, there may not even be a problem.

It just makes no sense to take a break again so soon after. Otherwise they should have waited another year before re-launching.

Well, if it is 2 chapters a week, then currently there is still enough for around 40 episodes, though by the time 40 weeks are over, Mashima will have finished 40 more chapters at least, so at least 60 more episodes of just manga content by the time they finish animated chapter 380.

Of course, the team is pretty good at extending certain scenes. I believe they managed to turn both the Labyrinth chapter and Erza vs. the 100 monsters in entire episodes, and quite well too.

Yeah though, I agree that a break wouldn't make any sense at this point now that they just came back from hiatus for a year.

The next arc after the Grand Magic Games could possible be a little short, so they could pad some episode or add a tiny filler arc to extend time.

I enjoyed the Key of the Starry Sky arc a lot. It felt darker and more mature than most arcs. It just suffered from two things:

1. It was a LONG arc. I think it was only 1 episode shorter than the Tenroujima arc. This caused some parts of it to drag on longer than they needed to.

2. The fights were nice, especially in how they used more strategy, intellect, and cunning to win rather than a power-up. Problem was they were too short, or there was too much talking interrupting the flow of the battle.

The two points made the arc a bit boring at times, but I think the team would do great with a more condensed format and more experience they now have.

The studio is really smart where they decide to put fillers, and their fillers flow well into the time frame of the story. That's why I feel like they would put one in between the arcs since it could fit, rather than in the middle and totally mess with the flow.

although i am very very happy that the anime has started again,
but the animation din't stand up to my expectations, the colors seemed little dull and light, which were bright and dark in the previous episodes and the outlines of the characters are also thin and light, which was better previously when they were dark.

also i din't the character design of Gajeel, he looks like a grown man, i liked the previous one better also gray's clothing (no matter how little it is)was better before and Wendy also looks grown up but she is a little girl. they changed the fire animation too, i liked the previous one.

well, some good thing was that the animation was quite fluid and smooth.despite my so many complains eventually i'll grow into the animation in a few episodes, well because its fairy tail.

about the story, nice starting and ending for a new start up episode. the scene with the sabertooth was so intense, i never expected that they would just kill off a character just like that, it was bit painful to watch especially Sting and how terrified Rouge was. i hope they maintain this intensity and seriousness when required.

also i am happy to see the black lightning in the opening

Actually, even if I didn't agree with the new color scheme initially, having watched it in HD, it's actually very good, and I actually prefer it more than the old one. What bothers me to no end is that they made Lucy so much more voluptuous :/ I like her old build more.

ya it might look much better in HD

it might appear that way because of her clothing, its more like they made her more curvy but they din't increase her measurements, her measurements were larger than this episode in the previous design.
so i get it why you liked her old build

She was more lightly built in the old anime for me. Definitely more curvy this time, especially her hips. And LOL with that last statement! (you'd know why if you look at my profile)

oh crap, lol, i din't had that information from your profile, may be i should have tried that statement using gray

well based on the information from wikia, when the series started lucy's measurement were quite large, then later after a couple of arcs her measurements were reduced, which still surprisingly looked large.

I finally watched the first episode, and I love it, it was quite odd watching Gray using a light blue jean but details, details. Overall the episode was funny and the ending totally supports Natsu x Lucy

Episode 1 was fantastic! I love the new opening and the ending. The animation style is really good. And well, the plot for this arc is amazing, so I can't wait! And there's also the wonderful music.

It's unfair. Masayume Chasing just came and stole the "Best Fairy Tail Opening Theme".

I dropped the anime half-way through the Tenrou Island Arc...but I saw the OP for the new anime season and really want to start again.
I already read the manga so I know what happens in the time between when I dropped and where the new season is starting. Would I be missing anything by skipping straight to the new season?

Just the Key of the Starry Sky arc. It's a little darker at times than most of FT's arcs, and I enjoyed it, but it's a long arc.
It might make you like a certain dragon slayer more though.

@Hiss13: And just so you'd know it's a filler arc. One long, long filler arc, as long as Tenrou arc but with less cool fights (IMO). It got boring at times because there seemed to be too much dialogue. I don't know, it was the arc that felt off to me for some reason (other than Edolas), and not because it was filler. You should try out a few episodes, though, just in case. Although you wouldn't miss much, but for a small mention of Zentopia in the GMG arc (nothing important).

Episode 177

Lots of talking in this episode. Seems like they've added recaps to extend the episode time a little.

The guild introductions were nice and flashy.

I'm fine with recaps if they only last about 45 seconds...

Anyway, another good episode. I had forgotten how much information were in these chapters adapted.

I should also mention that there was a mistranslation on Crunchyroll's part. As Yukino's sister's name should be "Sorano"
