It's discussed later when Igel got it's new thruster frame, which can sacrifice structural integrity for agility if activated (by unlocking the connection between nozzles so they can swivel around). Thing is, heavy gyroscope is amongst them, so it's really like AMBAC system.

Why would the compression chamber blow first? I don't think he runs with air intakes... does he?

On normal unit with normal propulsion, the chamber will gave up first, since reaching such kind of velocity require high thrust, and high thrust almost equal massive pressure.

In case of overpowered engine on normal frame however (which is what you refer to), then the frame will give up first and the machine and pilot will disintegrate midair, definitely worse than above.

Compression chamber is canon BTW, since Tatenashi mention ignition timing, it's a pulse-type propulsion as well, air intake or no.

Currently reading "Battleship" novel and see if it could do anything to improve my writing, the film was good by my standard (far from high but still) and I want to see if Tri said that the novel is better.

The movie was pretty badass by my standards. Though I think it could've used a bit more fleshing out

I just realized that the Byakushiki wouldn't experience either. Because Setsuna would allow Byakushiki to work to its maximum specs, not over it.

Exactly, if you notice, Second Shift ByakuShiki has more armor covering as well. This may be used as clue that the frame is reinforced, even if it's not stated

But I do think there is a chance for both frame disintegration and the compression chamber collapse to still occur, since Setsuna allows the IS to operate at its absolute limit, there should still be a red zone there :/

Yes, but considering Ichika, we will be concerned about SP more, he DOES knew when to hold back when is comes to mech damage... after some damage occur that is.

Come to think of it, your concept sound like Mig-25. The damn thing can go for mach 2.5 at FULL COMBAT LOAD (the red line), you could push it to mach 3.2, just say goodbye to the engine after 10 minute flight.

That aside, how the bomlet dispenser weapon idea sound? Stupid eh? I kept thinking about it as Riko's signature weapon, imagine flying disc that shoot molten superheavy metal... only there are dozens of them.

not really, reminds me of gundam actually. I forgot what it was called, the one with the big attatchment thing. It shot out missile pods that shot out its own salvo of missiles. I can't really say your idea sounds any wierder.

Also that's a tactical weapon.

Funny thing, Gundam has it right since such missile exist, albeit much larger. It's called MIRV, and usually nuclear.

The idea is the bomblet float when dropped.... and then align themselves and literally delivering a metal rain. Kind of advanced air mine.

I don't really think it'd work in highspeed dogfights. The only plausibility is when you reach a highspeed chase and you're the one being pursued.

Does she have any other weapons?

EDIT: You could make a variant of that weapon where she just fires the discs... probably.

Exactly, the only offensive use of it is to dash toward enemy and spread it. The Bomb can home in, just not as fast as missile of course, but their movement is erratic and not easily intercepted when they're got you in attack range. She could also use it in melee range, even, think solar defensor from GW, but instead of shield, it's a near point blank super shotgun

The unit is equipped with hi-output laser and HESH rocket, the main purpose of the unit is ground attack and air interception, in short, a support unit.

It's lack of dogfight-oriented mid-range weapon somewhat remedied by the insane speed, only thirded by Messiah (Haruna) and Setsura Tennou (Ichika), and on par with both of Houki's unit (Houki ditched Akatsubaki sometimes in the story when she found Tabane's motive)

If you use an erratic low mobility explosive then it's gotta be in clusters to deal any real damage. Unless you're not really aiming for them.

Sounds like a pretty solid unit. Scourge of any large scale battalions I'd say.

Technically the Blue Tears is an all around unit. It's something that can set-up an ambush on its own and can deal directly with threats by relying sheerly on the bits. The Silent Zephyrs further increases the likeliness of the BT series being an all-rounder unit by addition of a beam bayonet to its newer rifle.

If you infer from this, I can confidently say that the BT units weren't made to fight en masse, but neither are they supposed to be complete stand alone units. Basically I would like to call them their own carriers.

Well, the result doesn't always result exactly as planned. Besides, I need to nerf her because she's a protagonist now.

Silent Zephyr is a lot more independent than BT by virtue of system and programming, but at the same time, less powerful as support when BT is upgraded with comparable technology and specification. When two of them paired however... especially with Synchrogazer* active, they can wipe out entire sky of target before drained their logistic.

(*Some kind of strange effect when two or more female-piloted machines synchronized and create a distinct maneuver and combined ability in process, not unlike OOA)
