Gundam Seed DVDs -- Edited?

I know that when GS aired in America, the series went under heavy editing in order to be broadcasted on TV. I was wondering if anyone knew whether the English DVD releases are also edited (hopefully not) before I purchase them. I'm a big GS fan and don't want to buy DVDs if they disgraced the series with all those edits. Thanks.

No edits in the DVDs that I know of.

The only "edit" I am aware of in any of the SEED/SEED Destiny DVD's is that in Volume 10 of Destiny, anytime the insert song Vestige is supposed to play, the dub track only plays instrumentals, where the Japanese track has the vocals on it. Probably the most annoying thing of any of the SEED Destiny DVD's thusfar.

Yep. It still has the dubbed stuff of course (Lacus giving Kira the go ahead, Kira launching and all the other assorted stuff), but once the Strike Freedom is in flight, the lyrics are not present unless you switch over to the Japanese audio track. It really pissed me off because that scene really lacks that punch the vocals give it on the original

Exactly, no vocals just like karaoke. The song does not have any vocals during both episodes 39 and 42 (during the decent sequence with the Justice). The episode previews, however, do contain the vocals.

The only possible reason i can think for this change is maybe because the last 2 eps have been replaced with the final plus version (with Vestige as the intro) they don't want to show it till then?

But yeh it did make SF debue have less impact (maybe Bandai USA is anti Kira)

I can't see any good reason for that though. For starters, the final episode isn't going to be replaced for the numbered volumes. Final PLUS will have its own DVD, but it won't be out at the same time the final GSD volume releases. I would blame it on licensing, but the Japanese audio track contains it, as do the episode previews.

I'm sure we'll never have an answer for it, just like why we never got the After PHASE short on the 3rd SEED SE DVD. I suppose its best not to think about it.

I don't see why they would replace Ep 49 though... Final Plus is mostly a remake of Ep 50, and if they cut out 49, they would be cutting out a lot of the story (well, at least a lot of the battle sequences... Story, not really)
