Didn't think the Higurashi anime was good at all,
it felt just like a quick summary of each EP with no meat in any scene, Difference being that Higurashi could be enjoyed in spite of this if you like the horror aspect. But hey, opinions. Have to add that I haven't watched Kai. |

The good thing with Higurashi's anime though is that some of the crap of the VN are not included. Seriously, some of Higurashi's fanservice was unbearable. But I'll agree with you there, it still doesn't beat the original (though it does better than it at certain points).
Oh, and you should definitely watch Kai. The animation improves a lot, though the adaptation itself doesn't (Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi were brutally butchered), but it's still very enjoyable and in no way annoying, like Umineko was. Plus, Yukari Tamura's voice as Rika is priceless.

I don't really know how they would expect to make money either if they hire an English voice cast. It would be much cheaper to just subtitle the Japanese version and put it on Blu Ray. Seems like they would lose more money than they would make.
Not that they're going to be making much off of this as it is. |

I like where this is going.
Even though they licenced it for America to see if they make profits or not, the chance of Umineko getting a second season seems to be rather null, so I'm not going to get my hopes high on that department. Regarding games, I'm not even sure either. I wonder if they will even Licence only the PS3 games or the entire thing if the Anime sells well. As a final note, I think this is quite a late license for an anime series, since it's almost 2-3 years since it last aired. So that's another factor to take into account on why it wouldn't be profitable. |

Is it really that odd though for anime to come out in the West 2-3 years after they initially aired in Japan? Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt also only get recently localized, and even the mega popular Rebuild of Evangelion films took about two years a piece to get released in the West.
Of course, all of those also had dubbing done (Dunno about Panty and Stocking though), so they had more work to be done then just relatively simple subtitling. |

You're probably right. So is anybody here going to buy the Anime? If it sells good we might even see PS3 games in ENG. But I wonder Why did they localize Anime which is not even finished and will never be finished. Could there be a hint of Chiru Anime?

No , no What I meant is that they must have knowns that the Season 2 didn't exist, So why did they take this move to translate unfinished anime. Maybe, just maybe Chiru is in prodaction and isn't announced yet .
