I liked the story of how the team got together. I also like the major's new outfit tbh, I always felt the bikini bottom was jarring and ridiculous. :P

That said I'm really uncomfortable with the new characterization, it's like the major's an entirely different person. I get the intent but they've changed it too much.

Not so much different, but it gave me the impression of "damn, she's young". Which would make sense, but the others haven't deaged nearly as much.

How old is Major? I thought in SAC she was over 40 when she was still in a war with Batou, long before she joined section 9. I don't like the current Major's "young" personality. She lacks charisma.

ARISE seems to up the action department, but for some reason I don't find SAC's charm in it. I find it confounding for the sake of looking intelligent.

If it's true, thank heavens!! I'm tired of watching the same thing over again. It reminds of the lazy excuse of Broken Blade TV series which pretty much just the OVAs divided into 23-minute episodes

Episode 9 (new content):

Last week was a break of sorts so this week's the actual episode of new content.

This episode was good imo as it had a thrill to it involving the Pyromania and the hunt to get the "Fire-Starter". I think Major felt pretty confident to trap this guy though. And by his actions, I'd say that Pyromania is quite a clever character. Good amount of buildup and execution for this 2-episode story arc. I wish the series was a bit longer (like 4 episodes) but I guess it's better than nothing.

Excited for finale.

Arise has been a reliable source for sci-fi this season, even if it's mostly been retreading. It's all been new to me, but I'd sooner re-watch it than most of what's airing atm.

Best opening too.

Eh, I thought it was fine. I never expected much from Arise but it turned out to be a respectable return to the GITS universe. Cool soundtrack too. I.G were a let down though. Lots of off model shots and subpar CG for an OVA.

As always I'd like to see a less sterile looking adaptation that embraces the kookier side of the manga/vidya game ( think dominion tank police).
