The first part was perfect. lolol. But the second part feels a bit abrupt...
Well, the chatroom conversation is the part that connect the story...
Spoiler:

That and some (kind of minor but not really) changes in the anime due to time constraint (i.e. the reason why Kyousuke finally exploded at Kirino is totally different in the novel...).

That was definitely a great episode and best in the series I think.

The first part was rough with how harsh Kirino was on Manami and how she set Kyousuke up like that. Definitely a part where all the people who dislike her could just feel that all the more strongly. She just went overboard in so many ways.

I'm really happy with the rest of the episode though. Finally there was a small blow up from Kyousuke. It's been a long time coming with him holding so much in when it comes to Kirino. It had to happen and felt they needed to show it.

Best part was Kirino's apology. Well it was apologizing, thanking, and a lot of stuff put together. Really I'm sure that he's wanted to hear that kind of thing from her for a long time. Sure he's taken action not for the sake of those things, but probably for the first time hearing those kinds of things had to really reach him. Obviously the tears were the prime evidence of how happy he was to hear that kind of thing. Sure some words thrown out in panic when he started crying, but really a huge step for Kirino.

The first part of the episode probably would have been hard to take if not for the second half of the episode being there to balance out with it.

However, a few things from the first part of the episode made it enjoyable to me:

1. Manami essentially foiled Kirino completely. She did this by having an effective answer to each and every one of Kirino's complaints, and never getting flustered by Kirino in the least. Also, she never reacted with anger or shock at the trap that Kirino laid for Kyousuke; getting such a reaction from Manami was clearly part of Kirino's plan, and that didn't happen. Kirino was actually kind of defeated for a change.

2. Kyousuke himself could have played this better. Manami had asked for a moment to prepare her room when Kyousuke visited her back in episode 6, so Kyousuke could have easily requested the same and took some precautions (to clean up the traps, of course). Beyond that... Kyousuke doesn't seem to be aware of how laptops close.

3. Again, Manami is just fantastic. Could you ask for a better friend or girlfriend? She just rolls with everything, and is so honest and eager to help. She's like the ultimate anti-tsundere, really.

Now this is precisely the episode between Kirino and Kyousuke that I've been waiting for since more than a month ago. More comments later.

Pretty funny episode, though Kirino suddenly going all dere or whatever was kind of abrupt, especially after how she acted in the first part. Was a good episode though, almost too heart warming.

but man, I still can't get over how Kyousuke seems to not have had ANY friends before meeting his sisters friends. It's the only thing abut the series that bugs the hell out of me.

Spoiler for Just a quick question about the novels:

Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode. I especially like how Manami's reaction to the trap was the complete opposite of what Kirino was going for.

The second half was also really good, too. Kyousuke really deserved that thanks and apology and I'm glad Kirino finally did it. I don't expect her to change much at all after that, but it was still nice.

Well, he was friends with Manami before.

However, yeah, he clearly doesn't like hanging out with other guys much. Perhaps it's due in part to his poor relationship with his father, whereas his mother is nicer to him? Hence he thinks "Other men don't make good friends, but girls and women do".

I can't exactly call that the best episode of the series, but it is definitely an improvement in many aspects.

That being said, as people already explained, the second part of the episode was pretty much disjointed all around. That may sound nitpicking for some people, but it just switches from 2 complete different situations that has little connection.
In a way, there is a drastic lack of "transition" between the first and second half. It almost looks like 2 fragments of 2 successive episodes were stitched together.

Now, it certainly doesn't need a long exposure for that, but they probably should have shown Kyousuke "really" depressed after this incident and Manami being slightly awkward to demonstrate the issue. If it wasn't for the flat out "Kyousuke was depressed recently" explanation, Kirino's attempt would look like a purely "random apology" altogether. Moreso, because without this straight explanation, one would wonder why Kirino suddenly does that when she definitely did things of the same "magnitude" before.

Aside of this fault, this episode was definitely enjoyable and an improvement.
Although I definitely got irked by Kirino MAX tsun attitude towards Manami, they played well Manami's nature to the point I couldn't help but feel like she was facing her future mother in law

Meanwhile, Kuroneko yet again stole the show, and I must admit my reaction was sort of similar to Kyousuke with her "nii-san" (definitely a dangerous situation). Again, kuroneko impersonation are terribly amusing.

Of course, the other big highlight was finally this development between the kousaka siblings. Took them ages for that to the point I was giving up on it.

But hell: did they really not see Kirino coming with that gift? I mean the box size was a giveaway! At least, hilarious reaction from Kuroneko and Saori (the latter definitely has shown unusual "huh?" reactions... such like when Kirino passed).

Forgot to say, but nice episode by Kuroneko. Hiding behind the curtain in that outfit was great . Have to agree with Kirino that the cat ears and tail just add a lot to it. Plus she came in with some strong firepower with the 'Nii-san' stuff. Knew Kirino couldn't take much of that and Kyousuke definitely had a reaction there .

Have to agree Manami did pretty well in the living room battle with taking on any complaint Kirino had. She's a powerful person in that regard. It's a bit scary how patient and calm a person she is to take that level of hostility.

Kyousuke was a bit careless that's true. Forget the escape key I was waiting for him to just close the laptop. But I guess when panicked don't normally think of everything. Wouldn't be surprised if she taped a picture to the lid of the laptop in case he tried that . Of course he had probably cleaned up his room earlier and didn't think Kirino would go that far so can't really blame him for not asking for time before taking her up.

Manami was pretty amazing in some ways. Though that kind of makes it hard for me to get into her character too much. I mean a hostile sister and seeing that room it's kind of strange how she took it all in stride. Makes you kind of curious to see where the heck her breaking point is if she can handle all that. Definitely a good person with high tolerance.

Manami and Kyousuke HAVE been friends since they were young kids. I'm sure there's quite a bond of trust between the two, so her reaction was pretty sensible to me.

Anyway, this was a fantastic episode and it finally resolved almost all the conflict from past episodes. Now all I wonder is how they can wrap this up.

My interpretation of this was a fair bit different. I took Kyousuke being depressed recently as him being depressed about all of the things Kirino has done against him recently, not just this one incident of trying to badly embarrass him in front of his best friend (though that did put it over the top).

I also took Kirino's apology as a catch-all, for all the ways she's wronged him throughout this series.

Maybe I missed a key word or two here, and am misinterpreting it, but that is how I took Kyousuke's claim of depression, and Kirino's apology.

Honestly, that's why I can't help but think that this would have made for an excellent concluding episode for the anime.

It really is impressive. Manami has the calm and patience of a skilled diplomat.

Well, Manami clearly cares about Kyousuke a lot, and very much wants to be his girlfriend. Also, it's certainly possible that she took Kyousuke's obvious fetish for glasses-wearing girls as a sign that he has a crush on her (and this is his way of dealing with it).

Loved this episode, as it had Manami awesomeness in the first half, and Kuroneko dominating the second half. Sure not as moe overload as the Manami episode, but I'm not complaining as this is the next best thing. ^_^

And... Bwahahahaha! Kyousuke has a fetish for meganekkos. Hows that for Canon fire ammunition? XD

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to add a certain Saori Bageena to my blacklist... knew she was trouble the moment I've read about her in first book.

That what I thought as well at first, however, with Kyousuke's explanations regarding Manami, I believe he was depressed especially because of that.
With the context given by Ion from the light novel, it makes this interpretation much easier to consider.

This observation is a tad more obvious when Kirino implies she takes the opportunity to thank him for everything, while Saori and Kuroneko apologize to Kyousuke as well (connected with what Ion explained).

I may be wrong of course, but it really seems to be the case.

I won't argue that it does fall in line with proper conclusion. However, it just makes the whole progression a bit awkward, since Kyousuke wasn't exactly shown going depressive and whatnot. I guess the show didn't manage "showing" it, but instead resorted in "telling" it instead.

But considering Kirino's apologies and Kyousuke "flashback loop" sequence, the whole scene was definitely nudging everything that has happened so far, whereas the origin of the problem seemed much more recent.

Another well adapted episode, still very fast paced but it can't be helped. I really wish they would have made it into a 24 episode anime. Hopefully there will be at least 2 more volumes out before next fall season so that they can make season 2 without problems.
They should have shown how Kyousuke snapped after all that Kirino did, but got to see some her dere side finally.
Btw how come Kyousuke doesn't know how to use computers that much, I mean, it seems that he didn't even knew about the internet in earlier episodes, what kind of life has he been living until now?. Even if he had old fashioned thoughts like his dad I don't think it would be a valid excuse, but well....

Kirino and Manami were like a softer version of Sora and Nao

Yeah... that scene hit hilariously close to home for me:
1) My girlfriend is a meganekko.
2) I have a meganekko fetish.
3) I once got my girlfriend to call me "Onii-chan" using reverse psychology.

In other words, I am totally showing her that scene as soon as I get the chance.
