Honestly, I don't think you need to halt all leveling efforts with these resource levels. Aside from buckets and ammo perhaps everything is quite good. Moderate leveling efforts would benefit you more in terms of event preparation than total resource hoarding.

BBs, here I'm largely okay. Trying to get Musashi (currently level 30) into event shape, plus Mutsu to level 80. That should be enough BBs to equip all four fleets with, should it be necessary.

Spoiler for CVs:

CVs/CVLs, all four Midway CVs are level 90+, with Taihō that's five CVs. Focus will be getting Ryūjo and Chitose to level 80.

Spoiler for CAs:

CAs/CAVs, all in all that should be okay. Minor adjustments only.

Spoiler for CLs:

CLs/CLTs, also only minor adjustments.

Spoiler for DDs:

DDs, Shimakaze and Ayanami to level 80, if there's time and resources, Fubuki as well.

Spoiler for SS:

SS, 2-3 cruising as always.

Can't say I'm suprised with the timing; previous spring events also started around the end of April. Remember the golden week in Japan at the start of May. It's mixed for me; on the downside, apart from bucket, my resources haven't fully recovered from Hishimochi hunt and Musashi LSC (which gave me a Yamato and a Maruyu out of seven shots), and since I'm now out of country, I don't think I can quicken the progress any further. On the upside, I shall be home by 2 May, which assuming it's a two week event, should give me enough time to clear it.

My resources are sitting on the 10~15K range right now. Buckets on 359. I plan to get Chitose, Chiyoda, Haguro, Nachi and Shigure to Kai ni; do 1-5, 2-5, 3-5; completing the quests for exp 30 and 31; trying a few more times to get Zekamashi and Nagato. Doing that while gathering resources slowly. Then on the last week before the event starts I will just do orel cruising, PVP and expeditions.

Also from now until the event I "sealed" (to be chuuni) any construction or buckets.

I wonder if the special type and Mutuski class will come in an update before the event or with the update that starts the event.

Expedition 6 for bauxite. Resources should be enough for normal, more important is the condition of your kanmusus.

If there's one way you want to feel insignificant in this game all you have to do is compare your resources to others. I thought initially 40k fuel was an alright (highish) number. How wrong was I o_o

When stocking the fuel, should I stop doing the sortie/leveling completly? (I still need to level some ships)

I asked because I couldn't make the fuel number goes as high as other resources.

I think it all depends on which difficulty you are fighting, but having more resources is still better.

Having started the game a while back (I think it was after episode 6 or episode 7 of the anime.), my resources are not very high as I focus on leveling...

Psst, this is how my resources looked like a bit before Midway. Still managed to complete up to E5. Couldn't do E6 because reasons. And I didn't have the option to choose a difficulty level.

Did you do the expeditions that gives more fuel/hour ratio (Like expedition 5, 21 and 38.)?

I can't say much about mine, but I usually will have more fuel than ammo (As seen in my post above Sheba.)

There is no need to stop leveling/sortie as people don't really stockpile until 1~2 weeks before event starts.

If you avoid doing nodes that lead to damage then likely you'll have more fuel than ammo. But if you find yourself docking often then it's not surprising to have ammo overrrun your fuel. In fact it would be natural.

I don't think you can generalise. It all depends on what you which difficulty you want to clear and how the state of your kanmusus is. For example, it makes no sense stacking up 200k resources when your kanmusus aren't up for the task.

To refer to my experience, for the Summer and Autumn 14 events I never completely ceased leveling sorties since my kanmusus weren't really ready. So I stacked up about 25k for Summer 14 and 50k for Autumn 14. Managed to go clear through E5 (as an HQ level 50ish teitoku) in AL/MI and completely clear the Autumn event. For the recent winter event I stopped sorties about two weeks before the event began, since by then I was confident that my kanmusu roster was able to handle anything incoming. Likewise for the upcoming event I don't plan on anything other than 1-5, 2-5 and 3-5 plus a few occasional 5-4 sorties to keep the 元帥 rank.
