The dirty trick was just the existence of 19th mysterious man during EP1-4.

Erika, Bern and Battler had not talked about his presence in previous game at all.

This was powerful enough to change a lot of things.

This was dirty because previously meta-Beatrice did not employ such tactics to mislead Battler, though she could show false scene before Oct 4th as well. She could but she would not.

The best we can tell is that the man already has Natsuhi under his thumb when everything begins for all the games, how much influence and instruction he has on her of course varies per game.
