I was talking about what he said in the anime. In the anime (at least according to fansubs) he said "I Will". So unless it was a translation error or they will add something this contradicts what happens in the manga.


If Roy said "I Understand" in the anime then I would not have a problem. Is that what you are trying to say? Sorry I am just trying to understand if we are talking about the anime or manga dialog here.

Yeah. As GDB said 'Wakatta' means 'understood'. The crucial thing there was that he never specified what exactly he understood. The line was exactly the same in the anime as the manga, so I think it was an error.

If we go any further I think we might get into spoiler territory...

We were not alluding to future events. We were discussing something that happened in this episode. I was confused about a translation error and I just brought up what Roy said in this episode compared to what happened in the manga. He actually said the exact same thing but again the translation made it seem like he said something very different. If anything the translation error is misleading audiences. But I am editing out anything in my posts that might accidentally give something away.

The first half of this episode paid a homage to the fallen ones, and the darker setup for the last stage at the second half marked the prologue to the approaching climax of the final battle.

For the fallen ones one minute of silence. Tears and frustrations yelled and lost at the midst of the battlefield which has consumed Central.

Fu and Buccaneer passed on, but not before yielding their last breath to inflict remarkably damage upon Bradley-Wrath, which Greed/Lin in rage managed to knock down the homuncülus into the watery depths.

Although the Wrath arc is paused, it still hasn't reach a conclusion since the preview for the next episode shows Bradley-Wrath still alive.

Making aside that, Bucaneer's deathbed preceded by Lins' mourn at Fu's loss delivered an epic drama on stage which rocked my emotions.

Mamoru Miyano, who voices Lin, went all-out in what has become his best drama-performance in a shounen anime for the time being. There was agony, insanity, grief, and guilt in Lins' screams.
His very foundations and naive thoughts about seeking immortality were severely crushed once witnessing in raw flesh, that immortality amounts to nothing if he's unable to save his people. For what a true king amounts to lies not in his power but upon the support provided by the people that governs over.

Bucanner, on the other hand, fulfilled his orders and pledge as expected nothing less from a Briggs soldier of his caliber. No regrets, no worries, no desire for: poems, medals, money, epic songs, but just longing to have his body remains laid put to final rest in Brigg's soil, watching up at that wild and fearsome sky that beckons the strong to make their day.

Olivier Armstrong was shocked, indeed, by Buccaneer's death and made the wise choice to keep moving forward with no tears, no compromise, and no looking backwards, that's because its her way to pay honor and respect to the late Buccaneer.

And for the second part, almost all pieces have been set on Homuncülus's board.

Evil is everywhere, and our heroes have found themselves been driven to the corner.

To be honest, I found the gold-toothed Doctor far menacing and depraved than Father's overall Homuncülus form due to the voice of the former character.

The doctor's voice feels raspy, like a knife running down the spine while sending chills of imminent death.

Meanwhile, Father's theme song when confronted by Ed and Izumi could have provided for an even startling effect, if Homuncülus voice sounded as unnatural as something not from this world.

Overall, the gold-tooth guy gets on my nerves and has been pissing me off a long way back, but thankfully I won't be seeing anymore of him sooner than I can expect.

So, that's five episodes more to go before great finale, and we are left with a foreboding cliffhanger.

What Roy says is "wakatta", which, as noted earlier, is the past tense of "to be understood", but given Shinichiro Miki's perfect reading of the line (where are his detractors now?), and the situational context (Japanese is all about the context), it carries a bit more precise (yet wider) meaning of "resigned understanding and acceptance of the situation". Luckily we have a virtually connotatively exact way to render that in English (at least American English), which is with a resigned "Okay..." or "All right..." (the ellipses are important here) The scanlation of the appropriate chapter used "I get it", which is probably closer to a direct translation, but is also good. "I will", was just completely wrong (past tense of "to be understood" =/= future tense helper verb). Even given my limited (if growing) understanding of verbal Japanese, it was a glaring mistranslation when I saw/heard it.

As someone who's lived in and gone to school in Japan for a year, I completely agree with quigonkenny. It was a mistranslation and that's that. I'd say both 'okay...' and 'I get it' are correct, because the phrase 'wakatta' is used very often in everyday Japanese, basically in place of the two English phrases mentioned above.

I am definitely biased towards ANN, I don't deny that. I only visit for the news and if something catches my eye. But when they bash a NY Times bestseller that you love, you can't help but not like them.

I don't mind that people like the first series more what I mind is when people act like it is the most complex/deep story ever created. Because clearly the fact that

In the end I think people mistake angst for deepness. Don't get me wrong nothing is wrong with angst but I hate when people act like a story that is lighter/hopeful is less complex somehow than a story with a darker tone.

Also in the end ANN reviewers are just more people with an opinion. It's not more valid because it happens to be on a popular anime website.

Case in point: Negima. You could write a doctoral thesis on the complexities of plot and foreshadowing in that work, and it's a harem battle manga.

The title of the next episode is pretty foreboding, and coupled with the cliffhanger in this episode, one can't help but feel that the next few events aren't going to be turning for the better. But we're almost at the conclusion of this fine series, just a few episodes more...

I think the quality has stepped up from the previous episode, which is undoubtedly a good thing when there are some action-packed portions in the first half.

I especially like the part when...

...Lin saw Fu's lifeless body on the ground and how the scene highlights his reaction. Seeing him take on the full form of homunculus within him—dark skin, shell and all—reminds me of how much I like the simple design of Greed.

All in all, a good episode. Here's hoping that BONES will not be pulling any punches from here on, and present the last few episodes with a resounding bang.

Bradley is not really DEAD!? Then to me, I think that Father put that prick DR Goldtooth up to this! That evil smile means:-

- Is this the end of Riza Hawkeye?
- Can Fuhrer Bradley be stopped? Now it's Bradley NO MORE after that Prick son, Selim who's now become Pride.
