I'm pretty sure A-1 Pictures gets a major bad rep once the SAO anime adaptation started (there's hardly any disservice towards the studio before this, in my experience at least), which ruins most people's hopes, and I could say the same about Magi recently. I really hope A-1 will fully redeem in future works but that's highly unlikely.

The only bad thing in SAO adaptation was animation of action scenes in first arc(although where wasn't much detailed action in LN's either) and, maybe, cutting the Yotunheim part. Overall it was quite good adaptation.

But A1 really butched Ao no Exorcist before SAO
