As far as display cases go I actually got mine from a store that was going out of business and liquidating everything. Not a case that they were selling, an actual store display case. It's huge and given the circumstances it only cost just over $100. Not exactly an option you'd commonly come across but if you have a place shutting down near you you could take a look.

Ah, lovely. /sarcasm. I've gotten all of my TL preorders in just fine up until this one, so I'm pretty miffed at this, and am hopeful that my other preorders will be alright, though I don't trust it. I'm completely done with them as well. All my preorders that I have with them were made before crap started happening, but now? Never again. I'll suck it up and pay for EMS shipping at Hobby Search.

Which, including the rather expensive EMS shipping, will still probably be less than the base price for preordering a figure from an American based company.

I saw that Alter's releasing a new figure, a 1/8 scale Kudryavka Noumi, made with a combo of PVC and ABS. I go to Alter's site and see that a) the street date is Nov. 2009 and b) the street price w/o tax is 6800 yen (I'm not converting that now because the USD is going buckwild compared to the JPY right now, so today's estimate will prob be rendered invalid a week or two from now). So with the nice JP-->US ordering info I got from the thread, I start my search for the cheapest (and quickest, but that's not most of the reason) way to get her.

Price: 6800 yen Lucky me, they have a sale. It's 6460 yen now.

All these choices are hard to choose from, no? My drafted choice was HLJ, since they accept Paypal, but I waited too long and they put an Order Stop on it; now they won't accept preorders anymore until September. My final choice was Hobby Search, even they've got some weird English. Not the best when it comes to business where communication is key, I think. But hey, I gotta get the late worm, eh?

Yeah he certainly has a collection. I'd love to know what the numbers are there. I can't compete with that sort of collection. I now have 20 figures, with one currently on route.

I did recently calculate how much I've spent on figures since I started collecting last June. It was rather depressing. $1,743.74 CAD of which $284.08 is shipping alone. Yes I calculated out to the last penny. To top that off, I have another ~$1,000 on pre-order that will have some crazy amount of shippong on top of I'm sure.

Oh dear, I just realized I forgot to include the duty I had to pay on one item so far (Just $20, but it should be added if I'm calculating to the last penny).

This is going to be the death of me for sure...

Ya the main problem about collecting those figurines is space and keeping them dust free. Not only does displaying take up space but so do the box it came in.

The space is really a problem there, in my last visit to Akiba I bought a few cages to increase the maximum of figurines I can have, on the other hand, "the dust problem" can be seen as an advantage, I have never had my room cleaner since I collect figurines!

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10011055 type of case is easily obtainable in most countries. You list New York as your location so I imagine it'd be easy to track one down; and cheaper than a single figure, even. There are a few other similar models on the ikea site that you may want to check out, but I like that one the most.

Cool i'll check it out and see if i have some spare cash, It seems like my figurines are losing color unless i am just being paranoid

Now the only problem is that i will have to go outside to get it (very hot lately)

Hopefully someone will chime in with the shipping cost on a single Nendoroid, but I figured I'd go ahead and post. I've only made one order there, which was a Nendoroid and game together. The shipping was 2800 yen.

OK, thanks. I was seeing if I should ask Hobby Search to hold my 1/8 Kudryavka so that they can ship it with the Mio Akiyama Nendoroid I may preorder. Since EMS has a base price per package, I'll ship together. Again, thanks.
