I remember this, this was one of my favourite Doraemon movies ever. I watched it as a kid, man I still wish I had the VCD to it. It was about a robot invasion from another planet.

And yes, it had a Gundam-looking mech in it, as the poster shows. The red haired girl is also one of the hottest girls I've seen in a Doraemon show too (there was another though, that comes quite close; from another movie about demons), if memory serves.

The tactics Doraemon and friends employed to fight the military was quite decent I think, considering they were the only ones fighting them. Of course, it would not be possible if it was not for Doraemon's futuristic gadgets however.

I agree, this movie is very nostalgic to me as well.

But.......in regards to this movie, the original did not have that yellow bird I think (whatever that is) and Doraemon's sister Doremi is not in it, yet she is in this one. I guess they changed some things in the remake.

Yeah, it had strong similarities to the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki. Then again, its not surprising if the movie wanted to pay homage. Zeta Gundam ran from 1985 to 1986, and the original Doraemon movie released in 1986.

And quite out of the box, too (not spoiling how, though). The trick paid off

You might want to clarify that point about Gundam EXA if you want to make waves:

I couldn't feel anything for the character designs. These aren't the designs I am accustomed on watching. I didn't grow up watching Digimon tbh, and I always skip Pokemon whenever I could (for reasons I have forgotten). I also didn't watched Yu-Gi-Oh (except reading the manga) and never bothered the sequels/spin-offs.

I guess I'll just wait and see what's in store. Though, this would definitely be different from the other Gundam shows before.

Another question. So no Sunrise, right?
I think it's still Sunrise, just that they've partnered up yet again like they did with Keichii Hara's studio for Colorful. I can kind of see this becoming a trend for some of their shows where they act more in a producer capacity while sharing some of the animation load and letting the director/writer from another group make use of their resources.

Still they've obviously made Hino and Level 5 agree to a contract and their rules for Gundam if they want to make use of the license so I'd expect they still have a lot of hand in the script and direction at the same time.

That's exactly what shows that run on twists want you to think.
Or rather, isn't the whole point of twists that you don't see them coming?

I say give it a shot, and determine the results yourself after viewing.

For example, Turn A gave me a very bad vibe in the beginning, but I ended up loving it. But that show didn't really have any twists.

I still think Turn A is butt ugly, though.

...yes, that's pretty much what I was saying. Just pointing out the irony in saying 'This doesn't look like it'll have twists', which is essentially like saying 'I don't expect to be surprised.'

Shouldn't the thread be renamed "Gundam AGE 2011" already?

That's almost confirmed to be the case, since the story is suppose to take place over three generations. All of them inheriting the Gundam from the previous generation.

I'm more banking on flashback style personally, with all three leads getting parts per episode, since they've shown all three at the same time right now.

so I guess this show targets a younger audience? Can't judge the show we basically don't know anything about it...but if it's gonna be what I think it is, why not revive some of the super robot series like:

it's one of my favorite series XD

Of course, gundam sells, maybe that's why...maybe it's like kamen rider hibiki...hibiki doesn't look like a rider but since rider sells, so they just make it called kamen rider

First off, I respect that we might be surprised plot-wise, and it might turn out really good, and we might end up liking it. Maybe we will find out there's someone on the staff who inspires confidence, Madoka-style.
We don't know that yet. So it's hard to judge the plot, until these details are out.

However the character designs are visually so incredibly displeasing, I choked a little xD
I grew up with Digimon too, loved it. Until the 5th season, which annoyed me because of its totally different and, to me, visually appalling designs. This show seems to have very similar designs!!! :s
Not gonna lie, I'm a visual person, and while I can tolerate visually ok shows, I find it hard to watch something that turns me off so baddddd :s

I don't want to complain, for me, there's FT and GoL at the moment, but like many, I was looking forward to a good, quality, full-length Gundam series, so the general disappointment is totally understandable, imo.
So far there just simply hasn't been any info that could please. Could still change of course.

I think it's time to petition the mods to lock this thread until an announcement and then keep it locked until a smattering of new information becomes available. It seems that this series is really bringing out the ugly side of people EVERYWHERE on the internet :/ Sad. Very sad.

^Let the mods determine what mods determine...All these years and you still feel the need to carry a nightstick...

1 guy says something over the top and we need to lock the thread? Jesus Tumbleweed...

I petition the mods NOT to lock the thread, so we cancel each other out...

Whatever this new series brings, good or bad...The fanbase has a right to react, negatively if need be...Aslong as it isn't over the top in abusing forum rules, leave it be...

If you actually view the thread you can see the schtick that people have against it when there's hardly been any information released. Besides, you can't counter a motion when you don't know when it's been made or not
