Well, just finally watched this episode and since this is a 'When They Cry series' I get it ok? The usual mindfuck and such. No problem.
But the only thing that, with the remaining questions left behind, makes no sense whatsoever is how Battler seems to take the situation.

Battler#1: Yes, we've all been resurrected. I'm sure glad that's over! God Kanon, your death sure was cool, but I'm glad you're alive again! What did you guys say? A witch? NO WAI

Battler#2: Hey, that woman who's calling herself Beatrice is killing Kanon, Shannon and the rest of my cousins without touching them....You're not a witch LMAO!!!

Seriously... wtf? He believes all this crap he's seeing right in front of him. Being resurrected seems to be an everyday occurrence but he won't believe in witches? Right, that makes sense.
But since I know this stuff will eventually be explained with far-fetched crap you can't even figure out yourself, I'll remain positive and just enjoy it for what it is.
Although in Higurashi, it was just a new world. There. That's your mystery, and here you're dealing with an even more mindfuck version of the Twilight Zone.

I should really stop trying to figure this out cause I know I won't be able to but damn. Great series so far. On to 6 now.

Purgatory is a place that is Between heaven and hell. I can't remember where everyone likely said it to be... But in medieval art of death it is shown where suffering will happen before those go to Heaven. You do not go to heaven until basically the final judgment.

This is at least what the ideal meaning of what Purgatory is. For the novel it is probably different.

Okay... I'm going to say it. I don't get it.

What happened after Battler claimed he wouldn't die? How'd Shannon and Kannon come back to life? Why are they drinking tea? Who were those two fishermen? Who's the other witch? May someone please enlighten me.

Okay. So when its down to the final 4, Jessica, George, Maria, and Battler, the arc ends. What the anime doesn't tell us, that the VN did, was that those 4 went missing, and their bodies were never found. They did however, find Maria's jaw.

After that, they were in Purgatorio (sp?), which is pretty much the after-life. Since they all died, they were all there essentially. No one was resurrected. They're drinking tea because they feel like it, its a Tea Party, they should be sipping tea

The other witch is Bernkastel, the witch of miracles, you'll find out more about her later, I don't want to spoil you.

Just minute ago servents were dead and now they are walking around like nothing happenned and Battler still doesn't believe in magic? How the hell can he explain a walking dead bodie?! 0_0

I'm completly lost x_x

Can someone explain what in the world is happening? Why everyone are alive and no one is suprised about that?!

All of the characters are dead at the end of October 5th. The rest of the episode takes place in Purgatorio, which is some kind of afterlife or region outside the "real world." Since Battler knows he's dead, seeing other dead people in the afterlife isn't that surprising to him. As for Beatrice, he thinks that she's only able to appear there because everyone believes in her, and that she didn't actually exist in the real world or take part in the murders. In other words, just because magic exists in Purgatorio doesn't mean that magic existed on Rokkenjima.

Of course, whether he's actually right about any of this is an entirely different question.

Wow, what an interesting end to that story arc, very creepy, very mind screwy, just the way I like it in my When They Cry stories.

This was a really good sample of what the anime was capable of. The way Beatrice appeared was pretty awesome as well as with the mind screw of purgatory. Also, Battler seemed pretty sharp about the whole thing, which is kinda rare.
