Her version is gorgeous. The vocals are much more clear and I love the arrangement and piano a lot more. It was probably my least favorite song, but I love Maaya's version. It has a lot more emotion.

It goes without saying that

Sakamoto>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nakajima.

Why? Because I'm sure if and when Sakamoto sings this live, it'll sound exactly the same if not better. Nakajima on the other hand...lawl. *rolls eyes*

I think her version of Aoi No Ether is good, but her voice is not fit for it. Lacks the pure innocent unadulterated sweet touch (just how many paedo-related words have I strung together?) to the tune (too mature), leaving the song just as dry as most piano performances.

I hopes she does a duet with Nakajima for Ai Oboete Imasuka. Infinity #7 was a letdown, they let Naka have all the wrong parts, and their voices don't seem to synchronise well tunewise.

I will come up with a version of Ai Oboete Imasuka to how I would want them to sing it.....if I have time.

Let's go back to Macross Plus for a while here...

I was watching this Information High AMV for the nth time when I noticed someone's comment (slightly edited for spelling):

Quote:
This song at several points crosses the theta hertz and can cause euphoria when under the influence of psychedelics. Very few songs cross that theta hertz but the people who composed this must have used special equipment to allow those sounds.
I guess it's somewhat related to Sound Therapy:

Quote:
Theta 4–8Hz Drowsy (also first stage of sleep), for meditation, learning and memory. Theta meditation increases creativity, learning, reduces stress and awakens intuition and other extra-sensory perception. This is also the Lucid Dream state.
I don't know if this tidbit of info should be awesome or scary.

I, personally, find it scary as hell. I wouldn't like to be caught in the vicinity of someone who goes to such lengths to study a piece of music, no way no how.

If anyone couldn't tell, that was joke, by the way. One can never be too sure, these days...

Although not many laptop speakers can produce a theta hertz output either. You'll need special equipment to be able to listen to it too (if we can at all, that is). Most importantly, humans can only "hear" between 20Hz to 20Khz with babies having the "perfect" auditory capacities. Also, our listening capabilities/capacities fall by approximately 1Hz everyday.

So I've just heard Maaya's Ao no Ether, and I have to say, its like as if that song was made specifically for her.

If Maaya had been the VA for Ranka, things would be quite different.

Tak, you actually believe that, by simply changing the VA, but keeping all the rest the same (story, character development, relationships, etc.), the outcome would have been that much better? I mean, would we "feel more" for Ranka - and by we, I mean those who don't really feel all that much for her.

Please note that I don't mean the above in any disrespectful manner to the fictional character of Ranka Lee/Mei, in any way, shape or form. So, no need to tell on me, or anything.

That was another joke, by the way.

Well, I somewhat like how Ranka got presented by her Seiyu. It fits the character, although I can't say the same thing about her songs. Some of them simply sound better with a different voice.

I agree. And, furthermore, I believe having someone like Maaya Sakamoto voicing her, it would jar greatly with the character's design and personality - at least, that's what I think.

That's right. This delicate, childish and innocent voice fits her perfectly, along with all of the 'crimes' she commited

Ha ha, things would be different indeed. We might be able to endure Aimo a bit longer, before the pleasant and calmed feeling turned into tiredness and skipping scenes And Aimo wouldn't have to be ranked so low in the poll. Nakajima Megumi didn't do the song justice.

Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling that they're saving Maaya's full, real Aimo for the upcoming movie, and that previous Ai no Uta crap was just for teasing purpose I really hope so

Well Infinity was a Sheryl song anyway so they just added Ranka on top of that and she simply got overpowered by May'n. It wasn't a real duet like say Lion.

Honestly, I wanted a more grownup Ranka with Maaya's voice.

That said, Nakajima's Aimo was bland. This was supposed to be Frontier's Voices, but it hardly had the same emotional effect as the latter. Sure, it was later upgraded with different lyrics, and it certainly did improve as a song, but nonetheless, with Nakajima behind the mike, its difficult to immerse myself with her singing.
