Not exactly the most relevant comment, but just FYI, I learned how to read kanji through simply one website: http://readthekanji.com

It was free when I joined, but I don't think it is anymore...-.-"

At any rate, I did this for a semester at school, and from there I was able to read/learn on my own with rikai-chan and lots of japanese video games. ^.^

Isn't there another website that doesn't charge for learning kanji?

Hi all... Desperately need some help here...

I went to The Witch Hunt's site and clicked to download the digital version from Hobibox. However for some reason it takes me to the site but has the message "Access is Forbidden"

Anyone have any ideas why?

I live in the UK and have downloaded it before once in the past (lost it when the computer broke... happy to re-purchase >.> ... But to do that the site needs to work).

i think http://thejapanesepage.com teaches kanji (not 100% sure about that), and they are free and requires no registration.

Haven't heard from anyone on the Witch-Hunt team for awhile. Hope nothing's gone amiss. Although it is that time of the year.

I don't think I've ever heard of a case where that's been true. It's more grim and foreboding than a legitimate truth.

... why do people always forget that lengthy debate, which concluded with us bringing the download version of the games thanks to hobibox?
We always had communicated such issues when they arise.

But I guess I have to repeat what I already said: the reasons why we are having a slow pace were already mentioned: Chrono has a new job, and a lion share of our editors are really busy IRL. The situation is by no means any different than last year, except it is a much tighter spot for chrono.
As for me, thanks to Usagi, I had a lightened burden with the shit ton of pictures we have with ep8.

In any case, things are going slowly but smoothly, that's why we can't tell you an exact date for the first patch for ep8.

I'm guessing finals play a part too, huh?
;_;

Hang in there, team!

Just to be clear, I wasn't really looking for an update or a release date. I was more worried that something bad happened or there was a secret split-up.

No need to jump the gun on me, just being worried.

Is the PS3 patch really such a bad thing? I could see if it was coming out in English.

Well, isn't it basically like playing Alchemist's version, without paying them for it? Which is illegal?

If you already own both versions yourself and simply wish to play Umineko with PS3-level visuals but with Witch-Hunt's scripts all by yourself, that is perfectly legal in most nations.

However, the patches flying around the internet are definitely illegal.

Can we all just stop bringing it up? This isn't the place.

We might not actually see a release this weekend, but all the last bits are coming together for our first EP8 patch. This patch will cover a bit more than the first half of the game.

Also, this time around, we're planning to make a hidden way to unlock the second half that doesn't involve using old game data. So, when the final patch comes out, you won't need to update your patch in the same location, or worry about the installer removing your progress.

As usual, save data cannot be transferred between two game versions, but there will be a chapter select for the second patch.

Again, we're very close to our next release.

Everything sounds good, Chrono, thanks for the news.

A question: What will be done about the
Spoiler:

Since they have flags that effect the later game, and save data isn't being used, what happens if someone loads the patch and skips ahead of them?

If you skip ahead of them, your score will be set to zero, just like the chapter select of the original game. We're thinking about setting up a replay mode that lets you skip to the quiz section, then skip immediately to Part 2. This would also give you a chance to improve your scores and maybe pick up some scenes you missed before continuing on with the story.

Also, the chapter select will let you start the second patch at any chapter you want, and the quizzes are fairly close to the end of patch 1.

Now I'm officially excited. I can't even start to imagine the amount of work put into this patch, between choices, bugs, compatibility and whatnot. Thanks for your awesome work, keep it up!
