Don't get yourself too excited if you are going to watch Zeta for the first time with that box set.
The story may be classic but the art's dated even with some restoration and enhancemet for this DVD release. You might need some adjustment especally after watching CG graphic filled action packed Destiny for a 2D hand drawn arts plot heavy Zeta. And of course all the retro 80's music in Zeta in comparison to techno pop in Destiny. I even wonder kids today will be able to take Zeta after the 1st Ep..... |

Copies are likely to be availalbe in retail, but will likely go for close to the $200 MSRP.
Preorders get priority and few people who preordered are paying over $150. And personally I loved 0079 (Movies) so despite the animation, I can't wait for it. To be honest, I can't wait to check out more of Zeta. It'll be a nice retro taste that'll probably be better than what I've seen and heard in SEED/SEED-D (since they've stolen, badly, so many things from Z.) |

Just for everyone who hasn't yet heard/doesn't read AoD. Basically, as I said in that thread, my order from DVDPacific hasn't shipped, and I'm on the verge of cancelling it. If Bandai had said months ago, I might have said "Fair enough.", but they are directly going behind our back and have made no annoucement of this, which I think is disgusting. I also love my OP/EDs, so this really is very vexing. Anyway, if this pisses any of you of half as me, I'd consider cancelling your pre-order if you happen to have Zeta pre-ordered. |

Oh my goodness, I can't believe that Bandai would pull something like this on their hardcore fans. Seriously, cutting out the OP and ED without notifying those who pre-ordered it is pretty shady.
Very disappointed in the way Bandai handled Zeta, which ought to be a flagship product deserving greater attention. My sympathies to those fans who saved up their hard earned money and expectations. Quote:

Yeah, that really blows big time. When it came to Zeta Gundam, it was one friggin excuse after another with the release dates. Initially it was supposed to come out a year ago, but after about 5 or 6 delays and the same amount of excuses to go along with it, we get this crap now. Honestly the cutting of the OP/ED songs isn't a big deal for me, but the fact that they didn't say anything until it started shipping is really low. I mean like SirCanealot said, it would've been understandable if they had said something beforehand.
What really vexed me was the countless delays, as I was expecting to get it before I started school in September, so I saved up $200-$250 for it only to find out that it was delayed yet again. I only work PT during school and that money I set aside is long gone . Guess I'll have to wait till after Christmas to get it... unless someone else finds something wrong with this less than stellar release. |

Well it looks like the rights to yet another 80's show were left to lag again.
I'm not really surprised though because multiple companies have lost the rights to parts of shows prior to 1990 (possibly later). For example did you know hasbro lost the rights to most of the Transformers and GIJOE names only to find out that wow they're still extremely popular and were forced to buy them back at a small fortune. And now they want to make movies for them. As for the opening closing credit songs of zeta gundam the same thing probably happened however when bandai probably found out about the still burgining popularity of the UC series over here they probably tried to buy them back but the price was probably far to high now because the word would've already been out about the release of the series. Although it is disconcerting that bandai didn't tell us earlier. I'm still gonna get my copy because it won't be any cheaper for some time to come. Look at the wing box sets in comparison to 0079, 80, 83 series which have seriously droped in price. It's still a deal for a 50 ep series with swag. |

The op/ed songs are entirely Sunrise/BV's fault, but I don't really care for Bandai not mentioning it.
But witness the glory that is the boxed set: http://data.4channel.org/m/src/1102713911003.jpg Even without the proper OP music I can't wait. |
