just started watching this series. Kagari is a very interesting character; i like
her character's design and her kuudere personality.

while i was watching, i notice there is an Obama-kun in a group that beats up
the main character. that kind of made me laugh for a bit there...Obama-kun...come on now. :P

Protagonist is a lucky guy to have a girl care that much about him. Eh it's a pretty cute show.

So now she's some kind of eldritch abomination in human form? Charming.

You mean Kagari? No, I don't think so. She's a normal human (well, witch) that can tap into Honoka's power because of a special bond they have. If anything, the real abomination is Honoka.

Her hands and feet grew claws when she flipped out on Chronoire, she sprouted feathery wings out of her back, and there was some sort of demonic dragon-like creature standing behind her. She was holding Chronoire down with her foot, and it had a freaking dewclaw on it like a traditional dragon foot.

Yea Kagari has like a "beast mode" does kinda look like a traditional Dragon (which hasn't even REALLY been explained in the manga, and there aren't a lot of good pictures of it) that she goes into when backed into the corner but i think he needs to be right next to her or so she can use his mana to "feed" it. She always tells him to close his eyes so he doesn't see her like that i dunno if she's ashamed or thinks he will hate her for transforming. It just looks like a manifestation of her being a living flame..

Well if you notice, it seems that witches merged with some sort of animal or creature is just the norm, or just another school of magic to them. Cat-eared Tanpopo is another example of this, and so is the other Tower witch from the mall trio.

I wish the anime (or the manga for that matter) would delve into the types of magic in a more detailed fashion one day. Kagari wields flame, summons fire elementals and can transform her body while other witches conjure different, exotic weapons or weird minions and familiars. Chronoire literally alters the space inside the school bus while putting up a barrier. The display of magic in the story is quite imaginative and not your run-of-the-mill fireball or magic missile.

Now, if only the anime had the time and budget to show these moments better. Granted, they're not that bad at all, but imagine what sights they could've been.

I think this is the struggle not only of all animes, but of TV series and movies. The end result is as good as the worst of its parts. Having an interesting plot is not good enough, the director vision can totally transform the original manga (see Kare Kano for a classical example). How good the studio is at CGI modifies how natural the landscape (and nowadays even the animate cars and nameless pedestrians), sadly WCW is average in this key aspect, but I don't know if a bigger budget would have changed this. The musical score can improve (or tarnish) any scene, here WCW get an A imo. Voice acting is key (maybe that is why the villians got top ranked VA).

IMO so far WCW is good enough, it could have been better, but any adaption can be improved (even those that hav won an oscar).

I actually like the OST. The 'action' music score could possibly become repetitive after a while, but overall I like the more classical and dramatic vibe the whole OST has so far. For instance, the music chosen during the scene with Kagari and Honoka flying around the city was quite effective in this (3rd) episode.

I like the fact that the anime has decided on an OST which has a little bit of gravitas, over what could've easily been something whimsical or something too close to pop music. There is till some variety in the OST and the story does have its light-hearted and moments of comic relief, but the underlying story at heart between the two main characters is no laughing matter.

Just came across this series and ran through the three episodes. What stands out for me the most is that awesome ending theme. Any gifs yet for those crazy witches?

Well they are pretty much minion level, but you will meet their boss eventually, and its still only early into the series. The more powerful ones will come for those who can wait, Well you already met one this episode.

I really like how its staying very close to its source material so far, cant wait for the next episode.

That's just her powered-up form. The real Kagari is still the tall big breasted beauty we know and love, she doesn't qualify as an eldritch abomination. She's a human that just so happens to be able to turn into a monster. Her dragon form doesn't even look that monstrous anyway. I'd hit it.

I dont remember if it was ever explained in the manga, but I guess the reason she doesn't want him to see is because she thinks its ungraceful or that Honoka wouldn't see her as a normal girl if he does see her in that state.

Indeed, IMO Kagari is still a girl even she might be "faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" but if Takamiya ever looked at her with disgust it would worse than a death knell for her.

It seems she likes cute things. Not sure what 'cute' means to her, but she does like taking photos of Honoka in his witch get up—complete with bow ribbon and pointy hat and all.
