I think gundam will probably go along with the already established sestuna x marina & saji x louise relationships. The show doesn't have alot of excess time outside of the main plot, so I don't think they're really free to give us pointless mindscrews in that direction.

That's pretty sad. A competent writer and director should be able to juggle all three (war, politics, love) without a problem. |

A competent writer will write what he/she knows they do best, not try to write all in one package just to pander to fans.

Then what' the point of the whole sub plot with Setsuna and Marina, Felt X Neil, Saji X Louise, Lichy x Christina, Billy X Noriega? There's a assload of pretty bishounen and big-breasted bishoujo and you're telling me this show is not about romance? If the only point these points serve is tease the audience, then the director and writer have no idea what they're doing. They're no better than the loads of harem anime that get nowhere. It's a waste to insinuate such things and go completely nowhere with them. It's a complete waste of time to go off on all these Marina X Setsuna, Felt X Neil, Saji X Louise writing if you don't expect to do anything with them. It's really juvenile storytelling. |

Macross Plus was some really touching stuff with awesome mecha action. Seems to be that Gundam 00 is trying to pander to the Lowest Common Denominator across the broadest demographic. Hot Guys. Check!!! Hot Girls. Check!!! Mecha. Check!!! Romance subplots. Check!!! Political intrigue. Check!!! Angsty people with troubled pasts. Check!!! Is Gundam 00 doomed to be yet another Jack Of All Trades, Master of None anime churned out every year? Something that isn't true art but meaningless titaliation. |

(Are there anyone here who get turned off by romance in their mecha? I couldn't finish watching Macross Frontier because of it was really a romance story.) |

I enjoyed the romance in Macross Frontier. I just hate it that they didn't resolve teh whole romance triangle. So Macross Frontier = Fail1!! But I can understand. It's as if the people behind an anime can't decide what they want the anime to be. Mecha or Romance. It's really hard to accomplish both. Too many anime these days have an identity crisis. Maybe it's the result of postmodernism and the need to include fanservice in every series? Many anime in the 80s and 90s was more simplistic but much more focused and directed. |

There is hardly any fanservice in 00. All the romance shown is real life, instead of one guy surrounded by attractive girls but he hardly notices (Geass/Frontier).
And it isn't like those shows where their is a boy and a girl who hate each other and then become lovers or whatnot. We get real relationships with Saji and Louise/ Billy and Sumeragi. The mentor/parent relationship with Soma and Sergei. I think 00 does exceptionally well on relationships. |

Ep review: just like the first season, it's a clusterfuck of a bunch of action with very little meaning behind it while everyone asks "so leik wtf is going on lulz?"
As usual, Setsuna fucking sucks. He can only kick ass in a machine that's years ahead of the tech everyone else has. |
