LOL...actually Natsu-Nao images originated when fans in Japan wanted to pay homage to the "now-defunct" singing duo called "Tiaraway" that consisted of Chiba Saeko and Nanri Yuuka (with Nanri being Nao and Chiba being Natsuki). . They released a few singles and then broke up. Then Nanri Yuuka (ended up in her own gig called FictionJunction).

So if anything, it originated as a Seiyuu-thing. Nanri Yuuka refers to Chiba Saeko as her Sempai.
