It doesn't look like a transition into a battle manga if you see it as ever increasingly mounting pressure against Medaka's worldview of human love and peace. The kid is the first real counterexample to Medaka's pov that all humans are worthy of love and have potential for good.
See it that way and it all makes sense.

At this point, Onigase is probably the better choice for vice-president. While she may not have the strength of character to truly oppose Medaka, she portrayed to be much more sympathetic than that kid. Unless they reveal some tragic backstory or redeeming qualities on the kid, I don't see him cooperating with the student council at all...
On a side note, Spoiler for chapter 16:
The chapter totally dashed my hopes of Shiranui joining the student council, but I guess it's for the best. She'd probably work better as a third party informant anyway. |

lol holy shit, that was hilarious (slightly retardedly so). When I said Medaka should become a fighting manga I didn't think that'd mean actual blood 'n guts violence. Anyway, they've totally taken the setting out of the realm of believability by having a group of students that's allowed to actually wield weapons.
Aside from that though, the obscure intellectual thematics this time are actually moderately interesting. Humans are fundamentally depraved, I like the sound of that. This is much less grating than that whiny 'it's not fair' discourse on 'geniuses and hard workers'. Anyway, isn't this great? I don't think this is an automatic transition to a 'battle manga', as after the enforcers are dealt with we'll probably go back to the usual thing. However, these current developments promise two things this manga has been lacking for a while now: first, we'll finally get to see just how beast Medaka actually is, which is an important aspect of making 'perfect' characters awesome instead of 'annoying' or however you guys like to put it. Second, the specific opponents for the rest of the SC promises some necessary individual focus and development, which is a great opportunity to really flesh out their abilities and characters. |

Only two Kagijin and Akaboshi. Though this week akaboshi is out of the bottom 5... also Shonen Jump has the balls to cut of more than one series as they have done this before. Anyways if another new series starts or if HxH comes back someone is going bye bye.

WTH did I just read man?
The only thing that made sense to me in this chapter was that Medaka has nice hoo-has, even so, we haven't even seen those in a long time. Crazy psycho kid, blood, fighting, near dead kids, weapons, something that looked like hadouken coming from that little kid? just nonsense lol I dunno why im still reading this, i guess im still hoping for some sort of return to glory |
