Its probably more appropriate to put on your calendar to check the above mentioned website and this thread, maybe... once a month?

If we hear nothing, not even a status update - by,.... say..... June, I might start wondering if things got away from the team.

We just need to periodically bump the thread to keep it "on first page".

I've tried a few "date-sim" games and haven't really been impressed with the technology at all. The art, story, sound, music, voice acting.... all spiffy.... the "Zork with girls" technology??? meh....
I own AIR, Shuffle!, TickTack, and a few english game demos (Majipuri) and such.... but I doubt I'll be buying more unless some serious innovation happens.

I don't like how all actions are still pictures and how the people lok at you when they are really talking to one another. I also don't like how some actions scenes (such as Nerine or Kikyo throwing Ki ball) look so badly animated. They just took the picture and swirled her and the ball around. It's like an upgraded flash game! XD.

However, I do I to give credit to the artwork and sounds. They actually put real voices which is really good.... So...... Yea...... Hey, tell me how tick tack and the other Navel games are.

They're all pretty much like that: Navel and any others regardless of manufacturer .... I've heard there's a few out there that come closer to "RPGness" in terms of more decision points and tracking the girl's attitude to you but I've not actually seen one that does that.

The problem is the manufacturers really don't feel compelled to innovate for lack of real competition and the target audience doesn't stop buying them nor do they apparently complain about it.

My friend and I are looking forward to this patch. I need to play the game first before watching the anime (which I have next to me now). The best I can do for now is listen to the OST, but it's fueling the desire to play the game.

Its not a "translator" so much as a massive patch file that replaces all the japanese textfiles with english textfiles. The textfiles are compressed/encrypted so the format had to be worked out. Once that was done, someone has to translate all 60 bazillion words and edit it to make sense in English. Then someone has to reformat it back into an equivalent textfile. Then someone has to make sure the new text doesn't "spill over" and looks okay in game. Then depending on how cool they want to be, someone has to go in and edit the illustrations and menus that use japanese text in the images. Maybe Karoake the openers, etc. Then they put the resulting files in a nice zipfile and you unload it on top of your installed game folder. And that's just a summary.

I think everyone is going to be stunned if they actually get it done this spring.

It's not a program that translates. Vexx gave a better explaination, but to make it simple...

Heklin & co read Japanese text,
Then write it in English,
Then make something to write the English instead of the Japanese in the right places in your game.

That doesn't cover it all, but it's the main point. I guess it does what's needed though and translates the Japanese into English.

Because it's a patch written for PC, there isn't a PS2 version. And it would be far more complicated to make one for PS2 (as well as involving game copying and various less than legal methods, which i'll not delve into).

I want to play Soul Link but im afraid ill get a bad ending again...just by picking the first choice for every option...and also, it slows down my computer so much to the point where the internet doesnt work so ill just wait for the translation to start playing...
