I have read a translation of it. It is a really awesome chapter. I think I'll put a double layer of spoiler protection on what I read.

Kyon thinking about his double memories was interesting. Koizumi surprises Fujiwara by being able to enter Sasaki's Closed Space but then the reveal that they are in a blend of Haruhi's and Sasaki's. Asahina(Big) also followed Koizumi in, and Koizumi telling Kyon that he also has memories of both timelines. Then, of course, Fujiwara says his Onee-san bit. Then he reveals his plan of transferring Haruhi's powers to Sasaki by killing Haruhi. Yeah, Fujiwara definitely crossed the Moral Event Horizon by ordering Kuyou to kill Haruhi. Kuyou's method of killing Haruhi is by dropping her from a height of about three stories. Before he gives the final order to drop the unconscious Haruhi, Kuyou does some sort of thing that has Haruhi crucified on a cross of darkness. Very interesting imagery. Then Fujiwara has Kuyoh drop Haruhi and Kyon leaps to save her by cushioning her fall. Kyon and Haruhi are then saved by a Celestial who has them held in the palm of its hand. Then Kyon sees Yasumi in the distance, and he jumps ahead in time. First to see a grown-up Haruhi in a kimono and then he winds up in Haruhi's bed in the evening of the first year anniversary of the founding of the SOS Brigade. Kyon makes up a story to cover up how he got there, and then later he talks to Nagato, Asahina(small) and Koizumi who tell him that he has to go back to a month ago. Then Asahina(small) brings him back to a few hours after the Celestial saves them.

So yeah, I am looking forward to seeing more Haruhi novels being officially translated, and of course learning any new information on this latest novel.

Kyon charging out the window and considering shielding Haruhi with his own body is probably the most outward expression by Kyon of what Haruhi really means to him. In disappearance it was a choice between worlds; here something was closer, more intimate, Kyon pulling Haruhi closer and closer as they were about to hit the ground.

It's been a long time. I figure more time has passed between the series started (6 years?) and now than has passed within the story (1 year).

Even if it was just one chapter, it was super amazing. I doubt we'll get another translation for any of the other chapters (aside from the epilogue) anytime soon, but I can wait. It feels weird to have completely spoiled the entire ending for me, but I do that with regular books and it seemed like a good idea at the time...I don't regret it at all.

While Kyon and Haruhi's fall was probably about six or so seconds, they way they made him drag out his thoughts for a very long time it seemed was really well done to me. It felt like their fall was in slow motion. My only concern is how did the Celestial save them? I'm just assuming it was Yasumi.

I agree, if gravity was really in play like Kyon was saying, their fall should have been just a few seconds and he wouldn't have had the time to ramble on for a couple of pages. But it's literature so...whatever =P A great treat for HaruhixKyon fans even if the physics don't make perfect sense (though I wonder how they'll portray this scene in the anime. Will probably have to cut out a lot of dialogue).

I also think that Yasumi summoned the Celestial. Even though Haruhi was unconscious, Yasumi knew what was going on (I assume she can use Celestials like Haruhi can though she's aware of what she's doing). As for exactly how...well, Itsuki did say not to underestimate Haruhi's power.

I'd imagine that the protrayal of that scene would include a lot of flashbacks to scene earlier in the series, probalby including a lot of sweet Haru/Kyon moments. Man I can't wait to see that!

So I read the final chapter for Surprise. And it was amazing.

fghgjkl Whe I read the final sentance I was so mad, because you have to wait till the next novel to find out what happens. I'm also pissed that we didn't get to witness the fight scene between the Sasaki and Haruhi Factions. I've REALLY wanted to see that. But no doubt Koizumi will cheerfully describe it to Kyon.

Also the moment when Kyon saved Haruhi was really endearing. It made my shipper heart go thump when he was describing himself holding Haruhi. It was beautifully animated in my head. If the series keeps going, to see this scene animated would be my greatest hearts desire.

When Kyon jumped through time and saw College!Haruhi, it was great to see. Haruhi seems to know about here powers and all in the future, which really makes me happy.

And finally when he ended up on top of her, in her bedroom. So so cute. With all of this action, I now have new fanart to create. Im eager to start it.

BUT I CANT WAIT FOR THAT NEXT NOVEL DAMN IT!

Just a reminder for people. While there is a chapter entitled Final Chapter, there is an epilogue just like there was a prologue in Dissociation. The entire story goes as follows:

Dissociation:
Prologue
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3

Surprise (First):
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 6

Surprise (Final):
Chapter 7
Chapter 8
Chapter 9
Final Chapter
Epilogue

In other words, you still have a chapter that will wrap things up for this story. Not to be confused with the series, just this story that started in Dissociation.

Since Mikuru (Big) is a superior, the rules are flexible, so i'm guesing she can carry firearms. I doubt she'll be able to fight in a tight skirt though. I mean as far as fist fights go.

I am certainly thankful to the translators for what they have done so far with Surprise and the items that came with the Limited Edition.

I will say that HaruhiXKyon is the main couple that I ship in this series. However, I approve of almost every Kyon ship there is(I don't approve of KyonXImouto for obvious reasons)

Yes, I really want to be able to see that too. Even though I likely will have to wait until probably 2015. I also really want to see College!Haruhi animated and then of course that really cute scene where he winds up on top of Haruhi in her bed. His inner monologue of that is an instant classic. I also think that the series is heading towards Haruhi and Kyon as an Official Couple. I wonder who would be the first to confess? Or maybe they'll both confess at the same time.

Yes, I did a mental fist pump when Kyon jumped out that window and reached Haruhi. I don't see how anybody would say that Kyon was useless when he made his leap of faith to save her. Yasumi and the Celestial appearing is a great Big Damn Heroes moment too. (I think the Kyonists will have a different interpretation of that scene). I have no doubt that it will be beautifully animated and I wonder if they'd go for Crowning Music of Awesome in that scene or would it be more silent with Kyon's feelings taking the spotlight there.

I also loved both leaps through time and I know those will be nice scenes if animated.

I also highly anticipate the next novel(as well as a new season of the anime)
