The squad is definitely more fun to watch when unhinged. Pixis easily stole the show.

Hopefully Jean won't be reduced to a walking punchline in the real story though. He deserves a chance to shine.

notice how in the original opening 1 Mikasa changed her gaze towards Eren, while this time she does not move but Jean turns to her instead.

Great little episode.

It's nice seeing the relatable Jean getting the spotlight, and learning more of his background, but even better was how cocky potato girl was no match for Jean's omelette of love. Being beaten in her own speciality must hurt.

I'm glad this is not canon because Jean was annoying. I guess not even Jean can escape the hate that comes with being an mc. Best characters were Pixis and Sasha. Armin and Connie were also good. I'm not a Reiner fan but I liked him here. Best scene was the titan shifting.

Long live the Potato Girl! Loved Pixis' response after tasting the meat.

LOL Totally love the Yakitate!! Japan reference with Pixis there. I guess in this case, it would be Yakitate!!! Titan.

Sasha is awesome! When it comes to food, she has no equal. If not for the mother's reference, she should have won. Jean is just a typical angst teenage boy who doesn't appreciate the love of his mom.

Wow, they are really overplaying Mikasa's abs. It's like a constant running joke now. Eren is weak beyond weak, though.

Also, during the daydream sequence, Mikasa, Jean, Armin, Krista, and Connie bit their hands to become Titans. Their subsequent Titan forms are something to behold.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?
Mikasa was manlier than Eren. Jean was just a random small titan. Armin was a big headed small titan. Krista was a goddess. Connie... Well, I'm not really sure that counts as a titan. Maybe the eyes...

That's only the 1st time we saw them in the Anime.
Or if you mean exaggerated then no...she's actually even more ripped in the manga than what we saw.

It's in a lot of the art, and the short specials has a few scenes with it, too.

So Jean hated being the problem child that did't have any friends, so he lashed out his mother because she was embarrassing him or kept reminding him that he's a problem child. Though he than remembers that his mother only says those things because she cares and that he wronged her and will make amends.

Also, dem Abs.

As far as I'm concerned this is part of the Anime's canon.

Someone on Youtube posted the nice contrast between Eren and Jean.

On one hand there is Eren who lost his Mother wanting to avenge her.Forever scarred by her death.

On the other hand there is Jean, who's Mother is alive and well, yet treated her the way he did instead of being grateful that she is so supportive and only wants his best.

And did no one notice that Sasha's behavior to Reiner was a joke about Christa?xD
She mentioned what was it....facing "God"?xD

They must not have seen the ending, Jean did care for his mother even though he was a "problem child" and it made him feel like he was trash because he was always that "problem child" that even his mother keeps repeating it. He was headed at the end to his house to apologize and make good with his mother whom he did still care for, he just let others things cause him to push her away.

Eren's mommy loved him....

And I assume Mikasa's mommy loved her. You know until.. Yeah.

Sasha has loving parents too.

Seems like all these characters had loving mothers and fathers for the most part. Does that mean they're all losers because they weren't orphan'd until they became cold badasses?

....uhm that doesn't change the contrast at all. That's only another aspect of it.

It does because he realizes that he does love his mother and that he was wrong to push her away as it meant he was proving everyone right that he was a problem child.

If he never had the realization than that contrast would still be there, however he did so it doesn't really contrast because he did love his mother all along.
