New episode has come and gone now. Opinions anyone? I enjoyed it quite a bit but I didn't catch any hint towards the big storyline for this season. Anyone got something?

Spoiler for Episode 1 - Season 7:

Do you think it's going to concern the Daleks or do you think it's going to relate to what the Dalek nano-cloud was doing to Amy during the episode? I found it weird how that was just thrown aside and not touched upon at the end of the episode. Am I really supposed to believe it was fixed by the power of love?

Also that whole Amy x Rory breakup thing was cast aside rather quickly. Not sure if I should be happy that it won't be dragged throughout the season or if I should feel a bit cheated for the extra-quick resolution.

Spoiler for Asylum Of The Daleks:

Well that was a great episode to start.
Doctor, Rory and Amy are sent by the Daleks(the current and previous generation) to the Asylum, a planet where they send Daleks who are too insane by their standards especially the ones who fought with the Doctor, who fear they will escape and wants him to deactivate the planet's defense system so they can destroy it. (I couldn't tell the different kinds of Daleks from previous eras since they were all looking rusted)

Another interesting plot was that Amy wants to divorce Rory since she can't have children anymore(side effect of giving birth to Time Lords perhaps?) and feels he deserves better. But Rory still loving Amy no matter was heartwarming.

And the twist that Oswin, the only human survivor on the Asylum, had become a Dalek and she was imaging she was still human all this time. But at least in her last act as Oswin the human, she helps delete all of the Daleks memories of the Doctor.

Can't wait for Dinosaurs in Space.

An interesting episode to say the least. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but what was disturbing was the fact that the Daleks could learn to love a thing, in this case hatred.
The trip to Scoros was a delight, since I've seen a the old episodes of the previous Doctor vs. Daleks and always wandered what happened to their "birth place".
The Amy, Rory story was touching in its own way and how love can overcome all!
And Oswin was a delight as well, I do hope the Doctor goes back in time and saves her and the Alaska's crew prior to the crash...but that would render this episode moot wouldn't it?
Oh, and did any sharp eyed viewers catch see the Special Weapons Dalek in the asylum? It doesn't show up very often, but has been around for quite some time.

So happy i got to see the doctor being portrayed by Matt Smith. Great start to the new season. As for Amy and Rory, true love conquers all. Oswin was a nice character. I was so surprised to see the daleks asking the doctor for help. I finally saw how Skaros was supposed to look like.

I caught that too, but it's not like DW hasnt cast actors in other roles before making them companions both Amy and Martha were extras in other epis. It'd be cool if there was some kind of connection but I thinking there won't be.

Great epi, I knew something was up with Oswin, it was just too easy for her, I had a feeling she wasnt who she said she was, I thought maybe she was another trap like the first girl. Didn't think she'd be an actual Dalek though. Hoping everything is okay with Amy and Rory!

End was great. DOC-TOR WHO? DOC-TOR WHO?

Also This is awesome. Doctor Who, Simpsons style.

This was a very good intro to Season 07. Good characterizations with solid plot development all around.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

The ups and downs of Rory and Amy's relationship has always been quite fun, and the actors really click together - good chemistry and always fun to watch (so much so that, even though the series has done this type of episode before with their relationship, it is still fun and interesting to watch).

Of course, Matt Smith's Doctor is still lots of fun. Ultimately, it is his interactions with others that really puts him ahead (of other recent Doctors) in my book. He is able to pull off the quiet exchanges just as easily as the loud over-the-top moments. The revelations at the end of the episode were wonderfully paced (if blindingly obvious) and very nicely acted (I never thought the Dalek synthesized voice modulator could produce so much raw emotion; it was quite startling).

Of course, Jenna-Louise Coleman as Oswin was also a revelation unto herself. Whether this character is used later in the series or not, I know Coleman will be a good addition to the team.

Finally, the Daleks were massive amounts of fun in this episode. It has been years since the Daleks had last been used in a convincing, let alone menacing, manner. From the continued development of their race, to the use of every type of Dalek, and of course the wonderful ending which completely revitalizes their use as characters within the series (a Dalek that doesn't know the Doctor becomes a potentially new and unique character). Still, as always, I am confused as to where all these Daleks came from. Just how many times does the Doctor have to wipe out their species before they stay dead.

That got me too, you really felt the despair in the voice, something you neber hear from a Dalek.

What I found interesting about her was in her very last scene when she says Remember, she looks at the audience, not the Doctor on the screen. Wonder if this was hint that she'd be back in the series (not as Oswin).

Rory's dad was just awesome! Great character to add, I think he's in this weeks as well.

So what did everyone think of The Doctor's "lack" of mercy in A Town Called Mercy? A lot of people seem to be getting on him about it but a friend of mine reminded me we saw a lot of this with 9th since he was in the Time War and everything. Personally I like seeing 11th's darker side.

^Rory's dad was great and the villain in the episode, played by character actor David Bradley, was easily one of the worst human characters we have encountered in quite some time; he made the Daleks look pleasant. And the ending left a big ol' dumb grin plastered across my face .

Not a big fan of the western themed episode. I think the idea of the Doctor slipping into a somewhat pessimistic or at least less merciful mode was interesting (and even well acted), but I felt the set-up was a little too fast. Specifically, while there has been some indication that the Doctor's loneliness has affected him adversely, I felt the storyline should have been stretched out a little more than the 3 total episodes we have had concerning the plot. Hopefully the next 2 episodes will draw the plot together a little more tightly.

I am honestly not sure if I like the changes we are seeing with the Doctor (didnt I have enough of that with 10.)

However, I am willing to see where they go with it. I am hoping the Doctor's attitude shift will have an upside in the end.
