You can't stop people from being themselves. I believe Japan is capable of being a peaceful nation by choice, and not by force. And America is in no position to preach peace these days.
And even right now, the US are more than willing to tell Japan to go ahead with changes to their constitution because of the new realities they have to face. They have full right to sovereignty. The only ones who want to take Japan into an open fight these days are the ones who have a serious case of underlying penis envy mentality trying to hide their own weaknesses/problems. But that's for a different debate.

Meanwhile, I look at the example of Germany and how they managed to put up a few adjustments in their new constitution and succeed with a system where they can give their armed forces a little more "freedom" (for lack of better word) and make loads of money by the sale of military hardware. Until further notice, I haven't seen Germany being greedy in a desire to become a bigger NATO player by any means although they could because they are very credible on the political/economical front these days.

If those constitutional changes allow Japan to make money by selling loads of quality hardware to trustworthy clients, I say it's a very good move and no one can deny that.

But what an interesting world it would be if nations suffered from breast envy.

I read that Geraldo Rivera had second thoughts about this image, which is also destined to remain on the Internet forever:

Yemeni journalist who reported a US drone strike is released:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013...trike-released

Quote:
A Yemeni journalist who was kept in prison for years at the apparent request of the Obama administration has been released in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a, according to local reports.

Abdulelah Haider Shaye was imprisoned in 2010, after reporting that an attack on a suspected al-Qaida training camp in southern Yemen for which the Yemeni government claimed responsibility had actually been carried out by the United States. Shaye had visited the site and discovered pieces of cruise missiles and cluster bombs not found in Yemen's arsenal, according to a Jeremy Scahill dispatch in the Nation.

Shaye was arrested in August 2010 and charged, the following month, with being an al-Qaida operative himself. He was known for his ability to make contacts with extremist groups, skills that led to regular work reporting for western media outlets such as ABC News and the New York Times. At his trial, his reporting work was marshaled as evidence of terrorist ties. In January 2011, he was sentenced to a five-year term.

The charges against Shaye provoked an outcry among tribal leaders, human-rights activists and fellow journalists. Bowing to the pressure, then-president Ali Abdullah Saleh pardoned Shaye weeks after his sentencing. But in a February 2011 phone call with Saleh, President Barack Obama "expressed his concern over the release" of Shaye. The pardon was revoked.

President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi reversed that decision in May, issuing an order to release Shaye "soon", according to the London Times correspondent Iona Craig, who covered the case extensively. "Soon" turned out to mean two months.

As a condition of his release, Shaye is required to stay in Sana'a for two years, according to local reports. A photograph circulating on Twitter showed him smiling after nearly three years of detention.

Lawmakers (again) propose replacing $1 bills with coins:

"Hey America, want to save $13.8 billion over the next 30 years? Get rid of your
dollars.

The greenbacks, that is. Let's use dollar coins instead.

That's the message from a consumer advocacy group and former presidential
candidate, Sen. John McCain, who has re-introduced legislation to phase out dollar bills."

"McCain has been joined in his legislative push for the coins by fellow Republican
senators Tom Coburn, of Oklahoma and Mike Enzi of Wyoming, as well as Democrats
Mark Udall of Colorado and Tom Harkin of Iowa.

But they will have a hard sell. Even though most other countries, such as Canada,
Britain and Japan, have replaced smaller currency denominations with coins, Americans
love their greenbacks and have never warmed to dollar coins."

what they need to do is update the coin size. so that it is less confusing when someone grabbing a coin to give someone.

I mean why is the dime the smallest coin while the half-dollar is the biggest? Coins should be re-size according to their value.

Yep, just like we never warmed to the metric system either. We are a nation of rebels after all.

The Dollar use to be a large coin. Then it was a coin the size of the quarter, which has remained to confuse people. Even the Presidental Dollars didn't take off really. Nor have the First Lady ten dollar gold coins.

In Climbing Income Ladder, Location Matters
A study finds the odds of rising to another income level are notably low in certain cities, like Atlanta and Charlotte, and much higher in New York and Boston.
