Avalon and all other fairy-made relic have fairy letters inscribed on them. According to wiki, fairy letters belong to another world.

You guys are forgetting a key element, Saber uses Avalon so it's instant win, every time.
And I don't like Deen's interpretation. Why did Avalon fall from the sky onto them? I thought it was more they summoned it in front of them and then it protected them. Deen doing Fate is one of the greatest tragedies of human history. Up there with Gundam SEED Destiny and Final Fantasy X-2.

Episode 9-12 were released together with the Fate/Protoype trailer on new years eve.
On a side note, I always wondered why the Carnival Phantasm thread isn't in this sub-forum? Anyone care to shed some light on this? |

If the first three Holy Grail wars were only supposed to allowed actually good Heroic Spirits to be summoned (Avenger being the anomaly) then how was there an Assassin class in the first place that only allowed Hassan i Sabbah to be summoned?

Avenger was an anomaly? Didn't they cheated and fail horribly?
I don't think there was ever a limitation on the whether a Servant was Lawfully Good, Neutral, Lawfully Evil, etc, etc. Again, I think.

Probably because the ideal of Hassan i Sabbah's "Assassins" are a legend in the heroic way in their part of the world.
We don't know anything about the First and Second Wars...only that the Third War corrupted the Grail allowing for Non-Heroic spirits to be used, like both Fourth and Fifth War Casters.

A heroic spirit is a concept.
The Hassans did not target civilians. I suppose they might be considered honorable. They targeted Sunni and Christians during the time of the First Crusade (thus seems to be a Persian based group). Legends (since that is what the heroic spirits are usually...the legendary part of a person) have it that it was a cult of sorts that was trained to believe they had died and gone to heaven, and were now doing God's work. There are other versions, of course. They could be seen as the first Islamic terrorist group, from a certain point of view. Though they only targeted political figures, not random people.

No, only proper heroic spirits could be summoned (as opposed to "vengeful spirits"). That's not the same as being "good". For instance, Rider is canonically Chaotic Good, but she's not a normal heroic spirit, because she was a monster in her legend.
