Ichika also look like Chifuyu with short hair, obviously he's a clone of her

It could be possible that she's Ichika twin sister their parents brought along.

I have a feeling that Ichika and M are clones from a secret program of mass production of IS pilots from chifuyus dna.... maybe chifuyu somehow learned about the project (maybe the scientists were chifuyus own parents from phantom task) and learned of first products... first was a failure as it was born a male (and males should not be able to pilot IS) and they wanted to kill him but chifuyu entered the stage and took this one kid with her as she was running away.... maybe she wanted to take the 2nd one a girl M but failed and the parents took her with them.... while saying to her later that chifuyu abondoned her and choiced ichika a boy over her.... so she swore revenge (the brainwashing process)

other options are that M and ichika are twins... chifuyu hid the past from ichika and was saying that parents abondoned them as a lie (better this then learn that you are a failure clone) and just wanted him to have a normal life... while M was brainwashed...and got lots of military training to gain lots of skills to fight and kill... and like in ep1 she has nanomachines in her body to enchance her skills and power

I guess the main part of why they might be clones of chifuyu is becouse they all got the same eye colour orange/red and maybe hair colour.... yet question is why is chifuyu blushing about her own brother or why is so overprotecting him like there is something special around ichika

Yet I wonder will they make a special "anime" only ending or will they do fillers and jump from novel to novel and create a chance for season 3 in future.... we know from the ep1 that the ending will be about fighting M (they made a spoiler in ep1 just like they did in season1 about gospel).... yet somehow I have a feeling that ichika will defeat M at the very end she will start to fall from the sky... ichika will desperately try to capture her saying she is still a part of family making her become another harem candidate xD (to chifuyus rage... since it would look totaly akward seeing a girl with the same face as she clinging to ichika and trying to kiss him xD [like seeing herself doing that])

anyway lets wait and see how stuff will play out ^^

Ichika looks so weak...

He did nothing in this episode but being blow up and jumping into an exploding mecha only be to protected by Tatenashi

it's becoming more and more like a weak boy being protected by bunch of strong girls.

That is until it gets to the endgame to finishing a major enemy. Then he suddenly powers up and ends it.

But here the thing. IIRC, he was supposed to have a one-hit-kill attack. The only problem was he was unable to land that one hit. Here, confined space, he did hit her arm or something... and it did nothing. So now he's just a clumsy oaf who can't hit and can't do any damage when he does.

... *looks around* ... well, the animators decided to 'pad' the fight by ... a lot. I think it was originally a one-sided maul in favor of Autumn. So yeah, I think they forgot that Ichika's 'energy sword' cuts through IS shield pts like no one's business.

In reality, Ichika would have won since she would have been on the defensive the entire time since even one hit would have drained her.

There's a trope for it, but I forget what it's called. It's just a classic Power Rollback for a sequel. Which doesn't help much for character growth, but at least you can reuse scripts.

You may consider her as being one of them in his harem. Though her existence would curbstomp everyone else and claims as the winner.
