Meh... I enjoyed the series but
Spoiler for because the damned series still has two episodes still UNSUBBED, eh?:

Overall,
1) I liked the 'mahoraba style' character design,
2) I liked the fantasy premise - particularly the background clutter of more story than being told,
3) I liked the homage nods to "women of anime" in all the characters.
4) The critters were cute (Tonkatsu reminded me of 3 pheasants my wife raised. Named them Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner .... no we didn't eat them)
So I rather enjoyed the thing for the most part.

I really really got tired of the blood spurting as a plot inhibitor device but otherwise I was reasonably entertained in a "Saturday afternoon showing of Mysterious Island" sort of way (Mysterious Island: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055207/)

So I marathoned episodes 18-24 of this anime and I still find it interesting. Some of the episodes were boring, but it leaves you with the feeling of wanting to watch more, kinda like Suzuka. To summarize, I find that there are a few excellent episodes but most of them are average and some just makes you fall asleep. The main problem I have with this anime is how they try to involve all of the characters, giving each and every one of them background and screen time so the main plot is sometimes nowhere in sight.

The blood spurting thing was hilarious in detective episode if you know what I mean. Otherwise, it's kinda repetitive, but it's not a bad anime. I like the _summer-like mood, not being overly romantic and kissy but but rather little hints along the way but slice of life is still the main focus.

Right now I'll retain my rating a 8/10, but leaning towards 6-7. The rating will stay an 8 if the ending is spectacularly good, but it probably won't go over an 8 since there are just so many below-average to average episodes that it can't be justified.

Nagasarete Airantou: Crossing the line

I consider myself a reasonable person.
There are many things I can accept:

On an island time (and men) had abandoned
A young boy found himself stranded
Though (nearly) all the bachlorettes claim him
He came to live alone with the fairest among them
The island is ruled by four animals
Who can all talk and put up a good fight
It houses near every climate and landscape
Accessible all via short bird-back flight
Home to many unusual phenomena
Like magic, ghosts, genies, and more
It seems completely devoid of technology
Though Chikage has quite the treasure-store
While clear skies extend as far as you see
Whirlpools and cyclones the moment you flee
On the population crisis, they could spare a thought
But they're really just wondering if Ikuto likes them or not.
Though Rin is a carpenter, she can't build drawers worth a darn
And poor Mei Mei's so self-conscious, she causes herself harm
There's Tohno the Kappa, and Kuma-Kuma the Bear
And Ikuto's massive nosebleeds at the slightest sight or stare
The hot springs are run by a robot
Tonkatsu so looks like a pig - NOT!
Machi's voodoo could kill a mere mortal
But fear not: none of them are normal
Food is never in short short supply
Mame Daifuku's apparently the best.
There's fruit the size of basketballs
Not to mention Suzu's [DOT DOT DOT]

All of these things and quite many more,
I can accept them without any problem.
But I'll tell you one thing,
and that is for certain:
THAT LAST EPISODE IS BEST SOON FORGOTTEN!

In honour of Deathkillz, meant completely in jest.

(Sad, I know... )
hahaha! nice XD wasnt expecting much mind you though i only asked for a decent end - i half expected the reset button but this is just deja vu gone bad...well its a good thing that anger is gone after a good nites rest - and this horrid episode will be forgotten soon enough ^_^

just watched it. Yes i know i am busy but i was in LA.

Good ep nonetheless. But I hate the fact that obaba spoiled the romance between ikuto and suzu at the end.

There will obviously be a 2nd season. The new character (obaba's successor) and the open end are very obvious supports.

I hate her now because of that scene, she was the best if it wasn't for that horrible scene. I heard that the subbers got really mad about that scene.

That's what we wish for, but from ratings and fan response, the chance of a 2nd season might be a little lower than expected.

Let's hope the manga boosts up the popularity to get a season 2.

Yea for ep 25 subbed
it looked really corny to me as the were fighting animals
I guess they changed this part from the manga although some scenes were the same
From what I read every one is saying that the ending was bad but ill have to see for myself when the subs come out

The only bad part it had, was the last scene with the old hag. The rest was very good.

Yeah, ep25 had horrible art work, even the animation wasn't good enough to cover up for the bad art work. I have a bad feeling about the ending...

I think the ending was actually pretty much what everyone expected, if you look back a few weeks in this thread. We even weren't far off from calling the closing scene. So I don't think most people think it's bad. I feel it's very true to the spirit of the show.

You really think so? Hmm... it's different, but I didn't find it horrible, personally. As I've said before, this animation director isn't about consistent-looking stills, so a lot of episodes almost look experimental. But I guess everyone has their own taste for things.

This was too immature for me. I stopped watching after realizing it was more for the audience in the 11-13 year old department.

Personally speaking, the day I stop being able to enjoy the simpler/sillier things in life is the day I should just stop watching anime altogether. Life's too short to be so mature, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, though. It's better to realize it on the front-end than to complain the whole way through. Life's too short for that as well.

(25 and proudly an Airantou fan! )

Edit: By the way, watched episode 25 again specifically watching for the "horrible art work", and still didn't see it. I really liked it in fact -- one of the best episodes of the show, IMO. I loved all the off-takes and deforms. So yeah, must just be a matter of taste.
