Ya, trying to find out. I mean since they are kicking butt in cinema and with animation films like Wonderfull Days coming out you would think they would have soime decent anime series coming out...

This may be a stupid question, but is Korean animation considered Anime? I thought anime specifically refers to Japanese animation.

Here is my $0.02.

Korea has come a very long way in the animation field. A lot of Japanese animation is actually animeated in Korea, just look in the credits of shows like say Naruto. Even Studio Ghibli uses Korean studios to animate their films. You even have shows like Secret of Cerulean Sand, which not only was largly produced in Korean, it also aired simutaniously in Japan and Korean.

The only Korean broadcast only TV series I can think of off hand is Michel, though as far as I can tell it's not available on video or by fansub.

as far as korean animation, Oseam is easily one of the best tragedies i've seen.

there are a few other one shot films i've seen that i don't think are as good, namely My beautiful girl, Mari and Wonderful Days

Geisters was apparently produced entirely in Korea, although I didn't think much of it. I can't think of any other animated series like that, though.

It shouldn't be, but people seem to do it anyway for some reason.

As for the question, I second Oseam.

I've seen My Beautiful Girl Mari, which I liked, and Wonderful Days, which I didn't. I've been wanting to check out BASToF Syndrome, but it has been getting some pretty mediocre reviews. Maybe I'll just give it a rent.

Here are some good ones, all available on Region 3 DVD with English subtitles:

Oseam, My Beautiful Girl Mari, Wonderful Days, White Heart Baekgu (13 episode TV series about a puppy from the makers of Oseam), Hammer Boy (just came out)

In Region 1 (USA), there's Bastof Syndrome (which I hate...), Armageddon (also hate but it is intriguing), Red Hawk (never saw), and Doggy Poo. Everyone must watch Doggy Poo!!!

I just watched Hammerboy and it's a cute movie. Not great but it should go over well with fans of stuff like the original Dragonball. Not the best mastered DVD I've seen either, though it does come with an English dub. I spot checked it and it wasn't that bad.

Are you sure Doggie Poo is available on R1? I've never seen anything but the R3 DVD.
