Yahoo of Japan just did an interview with the mangaka of Fullmetal Alchemist and published it on 22nd September 2004.

Note: 彼女 kanojo!!! We have an official word that the mangaka is a 'she'.

So Arakawa knows how it's going to end eh? That's pretty interesting. I wonder if the anime end will have any impact on her plans for the end. (Assuming of course they are different

Wow that a nice read. But there goes our fun in trying to guess if she's a man or woman!

Personally, I don't think the anime end would sway Arakawa-sensei in any way...I think it's pretty safe to say (at this point anyways) the manga will be quite different, judging from the recent chapters and episodes. Interesting that she knows the ending already, but hasn't decided what's going to happen to get there..
