Destiny, on the other hand, has my award for one of the worst endings in anime ever. I've never seen another show with so much reused animation. There's an episode with only a little over 2 minutes of original footage.

This is what happens when 1.you run out of budget (or trying to save your profit margin) 2. Smoke crack before you write a story 3. You are a extremely shitty story writer. I see all 3 of these happening when destiny was made. SEED was slightly less irritating yes.

Didn't Destiny at the time like have the highest budget for any anime ever?

I remember it being like over $20,000 US Dollars per episode which was like over 2 million Yen per episode at the time. I think I read it here on Animesuki even, before the forums were hijacked and most of the postings lost.

Destiny was almost cancelled three times as they were approaching deadline with nothing finished.

Animators and storyboarders had no idea what to create as the scripts were always late. Thus, you get the 70+ re-used battle animations in "important" battles, as they just go for what they have.

Not all of the budget was used, as there simply wasn't an opportunity to do so due to the bad project management.

Destiny's a nice example of how to not make an anime.

Fukuda really needs to stick to OVAs or short shows.

Of course. And to some, like myself, it left a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very bitter taste.

I know there's some real genuine reasons as for why some people like Destiny, but they're mostly hidden from view as the Kira and Lacus worshipping beastmen hordes rampage through the internet.

Let's just hope here and now that Setsuna dies a hero's death in the end or something instead of becoming Jesus mk. II.

Do I hate cheap storyboard shows, you bet. Did Destiny suffer some major flaws? OF COURSE!

Yet, I think here is one of the biggest difference between us. I hate sad endings. I hate the idea of having the main character laboring through 50 +/- shows only to die in the very end. By that time, I am possibly immersed with the characters, the world, the society and so on.

But what do I get? Only to exclaim "AW... FUCK!" at the end? Naw. Can't stand that.

It might work in a 120 minute movie (for me), but definitely not a 120 hour show.

Setsuna's unlikely to die but again after he serve his purpose there's no reason to live, Marina however is very likely to die as mother figure/lovers rarely live in gundam universe. Well there has been just one, so I guess I can't really generalize can I.
