So with a week left before Shiro comes out lets do some predicting.

The info we have right now are:
-Takes place after Nise
-Something about a Tiger and Tsubasa (Duh)
-The cat probably returns again

I personally doubt that Araragi is the source of stress again assuming its about stress. It'll be pretty uber if Araragi has to fight Tsubasa again and this time he is forced to kill her. Or it's possible that those two team up to fight a yet unknown enemy. Either way I think Tsubasa's story ends with this book.

Tsubasa has always been the love rival of Hitagi, and I don't know if Nisio can do the last book with simply Hitagi alone, so I don't think Tsubasa will die. After this event she may however start travelling the world as announced before, so you couldn't see her for a while.

Another important question is if this is the cat or a new Kaii. Maybe Araragi failed an entrance exam or something. Before the problem was Hitagi and her being lovey-dovey with Araragi rather than Araragi himself. Maybe this time is something personal against Araragi.

I don't have read Nekokuro yet, so I can think only this much.

Okay you guys, this is news concerning Neko (Shiro) and the future of the series:

今まで主人公の阿良々木視点で進行してましが、今作ではなんと羽川翼視点で進んでいきます。これがかなり新 鮮。偽物語以降の話ですのでとうとう登場したドロガハラさん。以前の毒舌成分は多少残っているもののだいぶ 性格が丸くなった印象ですね。前作の猫物語 黒では異形として描かれた羽川翼が他の家族との生活を経て最終的には「あたりまえ」の生活を手に入れる・・ ・といった話でした。ちょっとグッっときますね。後、阿良々木君の両親が警察官とは意外でした。これは今作 初ですよね？台詞があるもの初めてです。それにしても阿良々木君はいったい何をしてたんでしょう？まさか最 後まで出番なしとは思いませんでした。他の作品と同時進行しているようなので今後の作品で明らかになるんで しょうか。

First of all I personally can't confirm this, I'm just the guy passing the news on.
It seems that Neko (Shiro) is told in the perspective of Tsubasa. It takes place after Nise, Hitagi's poison tongue is still here but a lot "better" than before. (Meaning not as poisonous.) After the events of Neko (Kuro) through being with other families she was finally able to have a "normal" life. Turns out that Araragi's parent were actually police officers. (It explains so much) As for Araragi himself....well he doesn't appear at all. It seems that Shiro and the events in the future novels are happening at the same time, according to the back of the book the release dates for the future books haven't changed......yet.

Personally, I don't know what to think. For the past six novels Araragi's character has been the staple that holds the series together. Seeing his perversion and the way he talks and interact with other characters has been something I look forward to in reading. If he really doesn't appear than it's like watching TV without a remote control. However, I'm still taking this with a grain of salt since it doesn't talk about at all about the Kaii or anything. This little news piece says a lot but definitely not enough, we'll still have to see the real thing first.

Even though Araragi is not the narrator, it doesn't mean he won't be a character in the story. Besides, if you have a substitute narrator there won't be that much difference.

I thought this was the weak point of the first person narrative style used by Nisio. Since the narrator has always been Araragi, you don't know what the other characters think, especially of Araragi. Writing the last novels from the point of view of the girls could result in something very interesting and novel.

I think I agree with Shikijin. Isn't this what the Bake series is all about? It's best if the characters are on their own, for the sake of the characters themselves in the plot and the fans. I think it may actually be really interesting! If Araragi doesn't appear, Tsubasa will have to deal with her stress all on her own.. and I believe this was mentioned somewhere in ep 15 of the anime.

というわけで、初っ端から分かりやすく語り部の変更から始まった猫物語(白)。これだけでテンションが上が ってしまうのは、残りの五人も同じように語り部として活躍してくれる予感をしてしまうからであって。でもま ぁもしかしたら今回の冒頭に出てきたシャーロック・ホームズの話になぞらえて、あえて1話だけ変えてみたの かもしれないですけれど。ところであの英文律儀に訳したのは私だけですか。
　でも、掛け合いがあってこその化物語という考えも捨てきれないので、最初のうちはあまりに短い掛け合い( 例えば真宵との掛け合いは羽川自身から見ても短いと感じられている)にもどかしい気持ちでいっぱいでしたけ れど、途中からその考えは逆転。逆転でもないのですけれど、猫黒までの面白さを『濃密』だとしたら、新章の 幕開けはまさに『濃厚』の面白さでした。一文字一文字がまるで滲み込むように頭に入ってくるので、かなり時 間かっちゃいました。

　第一章で本人が何度も言っているように、これは羽川翼がただ一人の人間であることを知ってもらうための物 語。多分今までと同じように、羽川の姿は描かれているのでしょうけど、視点が変わればこうも人間らしい姿を 垣間見ることができるとは。猫黒でも多少は見られましたけど、今回はかなりすごい。猫黒を読まずに猫白を読 んでしまった方は、そのギャップに酷く驚くことになるだろうとか考えてました。
　それでも今回も色々な羽川の超人っぷりを見た気がしますが、一番印象に残ったのは『料理』ですね。最初は まさかまさか羽川って料理下手･･･？なんて思ったものですが、そんなことはなく味がなくてもおいしく食べ られる偏食家ならぬ変食家？でもなく。異常なまでの食に対する無関心。食べ物は食べ物であればそれで良い。 ありがたくいただきますできる精神。料理だけじゃなく生きる上で受け入れるものを別け隔てなく受け入れるこ と。それが今回の物語のキーのひとつになろうとは思いませんでした。
　メタ発言については相変わらず健在で面白かったです。猫黒はちょっと多すぎた気もしたので、このくらいが ちょうどいいですかね。若干少なかった印象もありますが、そこはそれ語り部のさじ加減。今回のメタ発言で一 番良かったのは章飛ばしですね。どうせなら最終的に百何章までいっちゃってほしかったですが、それでも六十 六章というのはすごい記録ですｗ

　羽川と他のキャラの対話があるというのが、今回の大きな変更点のひとつ。小説ではたった一度だけ、という かあれすらも独白に近いようなものですが、化下の最終章の一つ前の章でひたぎや神原と同調意見を述べるとい うものがあるだけで、実質今回が初めてとなります。コメンタリーもありますけれど、あれはあれで番外編的な 感じが強いですしね。
　特に特徴的だなぁと思ったのが、真宵と神原との会話。上でも触れましたけど、あれはいつもの暦との会話に 慣れている所為か、相手が羽川になるだけでここまで短くなってしまうのかと驚きました。いちおうキャラクタ ーコメンタリーでは両者とも会話していますけれど、あのときの二人のテンションの高さと比べたら、どんだけ 無理していたんだろうかと心配になってしまうレベルです。
　それでも多くて三人、基本二人で会話が進んでいく形式はあまり変わっていませんね。それにまったく違和感 を感じないのが、自分がどれだけ物語シリーズ色に染まっているのかが分かります。物語シリーズじゃなくて、 西尾作品色に、かな。

　新キャラの登場、そして新章の幕開けにふさわしいオールキャラ勢揃いについて。とはいっても、撫子はなん か偽上に引き続き残念な感じでしたが。
　まず新キャラその一。臥煙伊豆湖。体格は小さめ。でもそれに見合わない大きな服をいい加減に着崩して、忍 野や貝木、余接の先輩にあたる人物。あれだけ伏線を張ったのだから、今度こそ出ると思っていましたが、まさ か最初に会うのが羽川になろうとは。とにかく特徴的な喋り方をする彼女。まるで英語の文法を頭から順番に訳 したかのような違和感。さらに彼女の口癖――『私は何でも知っている』。もしかしたら、それは羽川に合わせ て言った言葉なのかも知れないけれど、でも何でも知っていることは事実のよう。この口ぶりはどうしても彼を 想起させる。暦があの学習塾跡に向かう度に、『待ちくたびれたよ』。『そろそろ来る頃だと思っていた』。な どと知った風なことを言う忍野メメを。この新章を忍野のように鮮やかに彩ってくれるのはどうやらこの臥煙伊 豆湖のようですね。これからも楽しみです。
　そして二人目の新キャラ。阿良々木母。またけったいなキャラ出しやがってですね。結局名前は明かされませ んでしたし、きっとこれからも戦場ヶ原父のように明かされないのでしょうけれど、それが気にならないくらい 良いキャラしてますね。こりゃあ羽川も言う通り暦が苦手になるわけですわ。火憐が髪を染めたときに、まっさ きに殴るのが納得いくキャラクターです。普段は温和だということも、また。たった二ページの中でいくつも名 言を生み出さないでくださいｗ
　そしてまさかのエピソード再登場。こればっかりは想像できるわけがない。でも、登場させるとしたらやはり 羽川視点の物語のときだけになりますからね。あ、忍視点のときでも良いのですけれど、それはちょっと後過ぎ ますからね。この二人が今後どの物語に関わることになるのかは不明ですけれど、早く伏線を張っておくに越し たことはない。でも彼が化物語の中でも最年少キャラだとは思わなかったｗ

　今回はたくさんの伏線が登場しましたね。
　まず真宵のリュック･･･は、意外や意外、化物語アニメコンプリートガイドブックにて回収されてしまいま した。まだの方はまよいルームをお読みください。あ、でもさらにもう一度あのリュックを返してもらう伏線は 回収されてないですね。そこはまよいキョンシーに期待したいと思います。
　暦の一人奮闘記。あの忍すらも切り離して、一体何をやっていたのか。次の真宵回につながるのか、それとも 別の物語なのか。もしかしたらうまい具合に暦を出さないようにして、羽川視点に持っていっただけなのかもし れないので、何をしていたのかはこれから･･･なのかもしれないですけどね。伏線を張るだけ張って、後付で 考えてるっぽいのはいつものこと(らしい)ですし。
　神原の呼び出し。もし真宵回につなげるのだとしたら、神原を呼び出した理由がわからない。もしかしたら、 上下巻のようにまよいキョンシーとするがデビルはつながっているのかも知れないですね。つばさタイガーが表 で起きた物語なら、まよいキョンシーは裏で、するがモンキーは真で起きた物語･･･的な？そういえば忍と切 り離されたという伏線も残っているので、それも関わるとしたらしのぶタイムは偽ですかね。いや、これでは偽 物語とコンセプトがか被りますか。
　臥煙とエピソードの目的。臥煙が相手が何でも知っている前提で喋るので、否、喋らないので、まったく彼女 たちの目的がつかめません。でもまぁ、エピソードがヴァンパイアハンターなのでおそらく忍絡みかなぁと予想 しますけれど、でも、不死の怪異専門の余接が絡んでいるとなると、また事情が変わってくるのかも知れません 。
　忍の切り離しについては、それと臥煙一行の登場が重なったのが気になるところです。忍は暦無しではなんの 力も発揮することができない。それでも天井に体育座りを出来るだけの力を持っているということは、そこに何 かしらの力が働いているということ。どこか別のところにいる暦の力が阿良々木家にまで及んでいるとするなら 、それだけ暦の力が増大している、ということか･･･？いろいろ予想してしまいますが、今のところは検討も つきません。

　つばさファミリーでは猫は出てきたものの、結局は新しい怪異の登場には至らなかったので、今回新たに『苛 虎』が出てきたのは良かったです。偽物語では忍が怪異の解説役になっていたので今回はどうなることかと思っ ていましたが、名付け親は羽川。というか臥煙さんですか。どんどん一人称が少なくなっていきますが、彼(彼 女？)の一人称は『吾輩』。まぁ虎やライオンにはありがちですね。結局苛虎は意見を曲げることもなく、折れ てくれることもありませんでしたが、最終的に羽川の内に戻ったということは、受け入れることを良しとはして くれたのだろうなと思いました。暦の助力により、ではありますが、ほかならぬ暦が止めようとしてくれている のだから、苛虎としては止まらざるを得なかったのでしょう。これで解決一件落着。ひたぎとはあの後少し一悶 着あったみたいですけれど、最終的に綺麗なところに帰着しました。

　そんなこんなで、物語の新章の幕開けとしては最高の一冊になっていたのではないかと思います。これから始 まる五つの物語にも期待が高まります。三ヶ月おきというペースなのでそれについていけるように今からしっか りお金を貯めておかなければ。
　てなわけで、猫物語(白)の感想でした。

Truth is that Hitagi is the one doing the seducing. She and Hanekawa shared a bath scene and not one of those lame public bath ones. I mean full on hardcore small bathtub ones. I'm not sure but they were in Hitagi's home and since she is poor I doubt her bathroom can be that big and since they both shared it together we can only imagine how much skinship they were sharing. They also slept together, and I believe same bed.

Indeed, can't wait for the adaptation. I'm trying to imagine the excellent work they did on Hitagi's home in episode 2 and extrapolate from there.

Honestly, by now I don't even know what to expect for the next novel anymore. The only way this can go further is if we see Araragi reaching down Mayoi's panties or something.
