My theory as to why sakura is so weak is because naruto and sasuke are so powerful. I don't dislike sakura because she's weak but i dislike her character. If sakura were a subpar kunoichi like her other 2 rookie girl classmates it wouldn't be fair. Team 8 is a very balanced team with no one super powerful but no weaklings. Team 10 has smarts and physical strength. The only team with a group of powerful genins is the sand team but they're the bad guys so it's okay for them. Anyone think i'm right?

I think if she had someone to train her like Sasake and Naruto do(kakashi and Jiraiya) then maby she could actually be strong, but she spends to much time thinking about Sasake and not enough time training. I think that her being on a team with more powerful guys should be a bonus for her to be strong, you know to like try and keep up with them.

I think you've been reading about who Kakashi favors. Sakura would be called in lamens terms a "sissy." Not that she wants to be weak its just that Kakashi is paying more attention to the village and Sasuke. I can guarentee you she will be strong. Maybe stronger than Naruto. She does have wits. She can be a tactician and probaly be like Shikamaru.

Besides a theory(my theory perhaps) on why Kakashi choose Sasuke, Naruto, or Sakura on the same team is that......well you can pm me later for that.

kakashi was there to teach her also... she just wasnt as determined...

clearly Sakura will soon become a uncontrollable gambler VERY soon, and as such she will lose all her money and worldly posessions to loan sharks, and have to train to become a good ninja so she can pay them off completely, and buy back her stuff, namely her sasuke picture.

i don't think she's weak, just kinda not used. well, with nun and taijutsu she's below sasuke and naruto.

but isn't she supposed to be the more intellectual of the 3? and i thought she was supposed to be stronger in genjutsu than naruto and sasuke? if she would focus on being a genjutsu specialist and put some magic voodoo illusion crap on enemies, then i think she'd be more useful and not as "weak"

but since they focus more on nunjutsu, yeah, she's probably there as a spoiler for naruto and sasuke's strength.

You need a balanced team. Somebody has to be the weakest link. And you need a token girl. That's how the team's have historically worked.

Anyway, what sort of motivation is "I want to impress this really hot guy" or "I want to be better than my rival for really hot guy's love"? Its no wonder she doesn't train hard. Her goals are nothing compared to Naruto's and Sasuke's.

I really thought she could go somewhere with her book smarts, but she lets it go to waste. She's a total girly girl and I usually don't say this, but I hate her guts. She's only good for a cheerleader and Lee's and Naruto's love interest. (She doesn't deserve them!)

I'm not even impressed with her brain power anymore. Shikamaru clearly blows her away.

Oh, and there's always her family life. I haven't read very far in the manga, but are her parents ninjas? It doesn't seem like it, so she doesn't have any powers or skills to inherit or parents to encourage her. She doesn't have a clan like most of the kids in her class. (Manga readers please correct me if I'm wrong about that.)

Actually, I remember a discussion about this a while back - she has no clan secrets, bloodlines, or anything like that. She is simply as good as she can get without any mentor-like guidance.

Sasuke has a bloodline and an instructor who knows how to take advantage of that.
Naruto has essentially unlimited power.
Ino/Shika/Cho - family secret jutsus.
Neji/Hinata - bloodline.

And before anyone points out Rock Lee, he is/has been receiving some very intense training from Gai (and not THAT kind, either, you sickos!)
Tenten has had some training from Gai as well.

I don't think Kakashi chose his team, but rather they were assigned to him.

i think she is like those "fundemental" people...like in basketball...someone who knows and uses the basic skills well...while naruto/sasuka is more advanced

Sakura isn't weak she's the strongest of the 3.

she has perfect chakra control.

If Naruto/Sasuke/Sakura where to do jitsus all day long.

Naruto will win because of Kiyubi, but without it, Naruto would be the first to faint.

Her strength is unrivaled. Who else in the anime is able to knock out Kiyubi boy with one punch?

So face it.

She's so damn powerful, if she played a major part in the storylines, she'll kick everyone's ass.

All that's holding her back is her self esteem and determination. If she punched Zaku like how she punched Naruto, Zaku's head would fly off.

It's not that she's weak. It's just that she's not special. If she were to train herslef in Genjutsu she could be a hell of a backup fighter. Just think Sakura putting tying sb. up with genjutsu and then sasuke or naruto going in for the kill. So as a backup fighter she would be really good. It's just that her fysical state doesn't allow here to be a great close combat fighter. And the fact that she hasn't received good training makes her a bit useless. If she would would receive proper teaining from sb. with a hell of a punch (Manga Readers Y'all Know) then she would be much stronger. As she is know, she's weak.
