Well, that was a little pleasant surprise. The game is way addicting when playing than when I was watching the trailer.
Played it 3 times, all loss in the around the 6 sectors . The game is harder than I thought.

Does that really matter? For all you know, the similarity might have been entirely intentional. |

Maybe add a link to http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/faster_than_light
and the original web site http://www.ftlgame.com/ Buying on the original web site give you the game DRM free for pc/mac/linux and an extra steam key. The game is awesome... I got to the last sector, with no missile... my 4x shield disappeared in no time, and I couldn't do anything against the enemy ship... |

you should upgrade the engine. it give higher chance to doge and better aim
i always make engine and shield about the same (6 & 4/5 i think will do) i think the best part is how many way you can actually die. once most of my crew in med since been boarded. then suddenly missile attack the med other time. when i just kill my enemy in sun area. sun flare happens and destroy engine and cockpit and i cannot escape. fuck

I hate myself for clicking on this thread, bloody hell this game is addicting.
I had a ship called Hyouka with Houtarou, Satoshi and Mayaka as crewmember. Satoshi died while helping a stranded person, Mayaka got infected and had to be left behind (note to self: stop helping others) so Houtarou was a ronery boy. Then he got boarded by four people.

That playthrough, I purposely lower my engine upgrading to pour all the energy I have into drone and weapon, cloaking and shielding. Got better result than before, but my cloaking couldn't recover fast enough for the each drone phase.

Upgrading does not increase evasion in my experience. You have 20% evasion without manning the engine (goes up to 25% then), upgrading engine gives you 25-50% bonus on the base evasion, so in total you have 20*1.25=25% or 20*1.5=30% evasion. Not worth the money in my opinion.
EDIT: I confused Engine with Piloting lol. Engine upgrades obviously do increase evasion. That said today I unlocked the 2nd Engi as well as the Zoltan one and it's soooooooo good. I also died to the flagship ;_; Last edited by Eisdrache; 2012-09-18 at 17:14. |

I really want to play the game, but the hulking, snarling beast that is my backlog snaps at my hands whenever I think about putting down yet more money for games, let alone full-priced ones.
Ok, overdramatization aside, I want this game, but I can wait... I've got what seems like a million hours of other unplayed games. Though once I do buy it (during a 75% off Steam Sale, most likely), it'll get kicked to near the top of my list.
