The train was almost upon us.

I stepped forward... and hurdled over one gate, landing square in the path of the train.

I had no chance to react. It would perhaps be three seconds, maybe less, until I was no longer a part of this world.

Then I realized I still wasn't really giving it my all. So I did.

I hurdled over the next gate, landing right beside Haruhi, whose face was frozen in shock.

The train sped by. Time returned to normal.


Kyon: Never stop dreaming!


Haruhi: ...


...Wait. What did I just say?

In fact, what did I just do? ...Did I seriously just run across the tracks when a train was coming?

I... I think I did, yes.

Haruhi: Are you an idiot!?

Kyon: Uh.

Haruhi: Weren't you the one just telling me to be careful!?

Kyon: Well, yes...

Haruhi: Honestly...


She sighs. I feel as though our positions have been reversed. It's not a good feeling.


Haruhi: Well, whatever, it can't be helped. I'm getting hungry, let's take the train into town or something.

Kyon: Actually...


I've just remembered.


Kyon: I have sandwiches.

Somehow, this feels better than the 16 point version. Maybe because I can imagine Haruhi turning away and slightly blushing. The dere in her always gets me.

Points aren't just a measure of how much a girl likes the protagonist, they're also a measure of how much the protagonist likes the girl.

Kyon is not going to dodge trains unless he really, really, really likes Haruhi.

Also I couldn't find a way to give important CGs to the other option, which is the standard benefit of maxing out points for a given girl.

Somehow I'd like to stick to the Haruhi BGMs for now. They, well, fit better.

No offense or anything, but...

As for leitmotifs, aside from the ones that already exist in the series (Higeki no Heroine, etc.), remixing stuff like the off-vocal for Parallel Days would be ideal.

Actually, I might as well say now... I'd really like several remixes of Itsumo no Fuukei, given Kyon and Kyonko's role in the VN... A good start would be turning it into a leitmotif for Kyonko. Or hell, I can just use it as-is for her, given how it sounds already.

Well I mean half of these image songs aren't even on youtube. I would even go so far as to say something like Tsuruya's Megassa Koukishin instrumental could fit very well. I would at least give them a listen.

But yeah, it's up to you in the end I suppose. Just trying to make some suggestions.

I can see remixing working pretty good if you can find someone that's good at it. They're probably easier to find than a legitimate composer.

If you're looking for some remixers, I think you should look at Dwelling of Duels, and vgmix for that matter, there are some amazing guys over there. They haven't been nearly as active as they used to be but they're worth a look.

About the current topic: I agree remix are a nice idea. Just using Haruhi's tracks is good enough and simpler then making new ones. Even if the overall mood of the story is different, a good remix can fix it.

Since someone mentioned K-ON, I will say I also like the idea of using another KyoAni tracks. I mean, if it is needed, I see no problem stealing borrowing from another animes, but, if we are going to do that, staying mostly in the same anime studio is better as a form of shout out. Of course, K-ON is to moe for what we are doing, however, if a particular music is good for some kind of scene (like the more calm and normal ones from the first week) I cant see why not to use. Of couse we should prioritize Haruhi tracks, but i vedicardi have suggestions we should use.

Also, I agree about using Itsumo no Fuukei as Kyonko's leitmotif. This music is awesome and I already relate it to Kyon anyway.
