Halloa Pip! Ashibaka's Art Thread
I'm sorry that I'm not a professional artist, OK? :3
So far, none of these were actually planned out as "artwork". Most originated as doodles from my homework assignment book. That's why some are twice as tall as they are wide; each week in the book has big blank spaces for "Saturday" and "Sunday", which I dutifully fill up with tributes to my personal gods. Drawings without my URL "osaka.is.dreaming.org" in the corner are incomplete. (NONE OF WHAT I'VE POSTED SO FAR IS A FINISHED WORK.) Please post criticism, help on how to properly CG these things , and feel free to ask me questions about what exactly is going on in my pictures, and who I'm drawing. I'm really no good at shading... This one is creepier than it ought to be. I'll try toning it down a bit in the final. edit: taking this one back to the drawing board... pillow <3 edit: taking this one back to the drawing board... Here's a bit of Megaboston art as a bonus.

Well first off, my advice is that you work more on the anime style and study the anatomy a bit more, Don't move so quickly toward CG and try to hone your skills in line art first ( opinions may vary at that part)
Like I told most beginners ( I am a novice >_>;; ), I suggest you to try and copy pictures directly from animes you like, but not tracing, copying it by eyeing the picture. Try to get the picture to look as similar as you can, and keep at it. This method is useful in a way such that, you can learn the basics of the face and how anatomy is structured in a character. Try my advice out, and if you keep at it, you might be pleasantly surprised. |

Yeah, I think practising is definitely the best way to improve. Take your time and study the body and facial features of other characters. After you get the basics down, then you can try CG... It's probably better to find an in-depth guide somewhere on the web rather than to ask here for the CG part
What's with the Halloa Pip ? You a fan of Dickens? lol |

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have some How to Draw Manga books (the "Manga Institute" series) which I guess I can study from. I am thinking maybe the two pictures I edited out scared people away, because this thread went so long with no replies...

The better is too start with real people n real proportions, just masterize first, a little with. Then use your "how to draw manga". It may be less difficult, i think. One of the best way is to start with nude, take some playboy mag or commercial stuff with hot girl, in preference lol and then draw their bodies (hands n feets too), don't care about face or little detail. Just draw with some lines ^^ Do a lot. When you think it turns out good, try drawing it n deform it to anime, with less muscle n anime body shape per exemple. And about faces, well draw them like you want ^^ (it's my perverted technik lol) |

Cute title! ^_^
LOL that mini comic is funny! I want to know what happens next! The first one was good, but with a little practice you'll get even better. Just work on the body and it's proportions (what everybody else said). You draw like 11x better than me. Stick Figure Style 0wnz!! |
